Hell, K100 forum. New member, new Flying Brick owner. Picked up my 86 K100RS yesterday. It's resting comfortably under a bike cover in the garage after the 2.5 hour trip home.  Next steps: registration and insurance.

Welcome here!

The bike looks well looked after.
If it's good maintained you have a great bike.

Did you clean it so nice?

Cheers from Germany

The bike is well maintained. I bought from the second owner, who is responsible for maintaining it in the pristine condition he bought it in (6300 miles, currently). He stored it in his family room over winters so it would stay warm. There's a lot of pride in ownership evident.

I hand checked various hoses (grabbed and squeezed) and there wasn't one that felt crunchy or overly soft. The only checking I can find in rubber parts is on the front tire, and that's fairly light. I'm not sure if I want to replace it with another Metzler Lasertec or something else. Rear tire was new last year, so that one is fine. I'll drain the oil and replace; probably the coolant (and flush) as well. Mostly for my peace of mind.

Lasertec and me don't like each other.

I don't know what your climate locally is like but here where it gets cold and wet in winter I find them horrible.

Lots of posts on tyre types some use Bridgestone BT45 but also others are using Avons, Pilot Road 3 and more in similar conditions.

I suspect too that the tyres may well be too aged from lack of use AND from being kept in a warm living room! Check the manufacturing codes on the sidewalls, it should give week and year as a 4 digit code. eg 3714 would be week 37 of 2014.

Your response to the photo request shows you will fit in on the forum here real good.!! Smashing looking K. Room for a few more of them too.

Thought I would update the thread with an actual picture I took whilst out and about on the bike.  That front tire really needs to go, but I can't bear to just let it sit in the garage waiting...
