As good a thread as any to continue.

On my K75 RT, the battery hold down bracket also holds the coolant overflow container in place, and it fits exactly with the 175mm tall (once) 24AH battery.

If I were to fit a lower battery, the coolant overflow container would be squashed, unless I place a spacer under the battery. Is that the way to do it?

The 30Ah one in my K100 went for 7 years then got transferred to the K1100 and I got a further year from it.  If you decide on a Motobatt have a look around the Jetski and lawn tractor sections they are often cheaper there for the same one.
Been eyeballing the Motobatt MBC30HL, ill have to check on the cross-reference battery!

Golf cart and lawnmower batteries work fine.

Using them for years!

The MotoBatt you quote is 15mm taller than OEM (I have three of them, two on K100s and one on a Guzzi). My solution was to make a spacer to fit between the tiedown and the coolant header tank. I drilled a hole to glue the rubber spacer into (the glue isn't a necessity) and tapped a 6mm thread on the other side to about 10mm deep. A penny washer (you call them mudguard washers I think) over the original hole in the tiedown and a short 6mm allen bolt finished the job.

That, I think, will be your only option, Back to the good old days of stuffing a piece of plywood into the battery tray to make any old battery fit on whichever bike was giving me grief at the time!

Tranberg, you might be interested in post number 19 in the thread that I have linked below which details my approach to using narrow batteries that fit in the recess in the centre of the battery tray while also being able to clamp the coolant bottle independent of the battery height.

Doh! The strap is exactly the approach I took about a year ago when wiring up a new-build Triton and needed to pin the battery down in the tray.

Thanks. BTW you get the direct link to a specific post by clicking on the date on it (on other forums it's (also) the number next to the post.
Another thing missing is the little arrow next to a quote, which take you to the quoted post.
