Hi guys,
So I just installed a new Acewell aftermarket speedometer on my k100 and I have a few questions in regards to previously discussed topics on this forum.

The picture below is showing the circuit board that was made by rbarerro (https://www.k100-forum.com/t2611-my-k100-cafe-racer-project-story)

Circuit board and gen-light Skjerm11

My question is this: Which wires are the different wires from the circuit board connected to (on the bike)? I know that it should be connected to the three yellow wires (gear indicator wires) but how? And are there any other wires that should be connected? And which of these wires should be connected to the yellow ones?

My second question is this:

I also wanted to ask if I need to connected the gen warning light? (the triangle symbol), see picture below. Is it needed or can I simply skip it?

Wish you the best,

Jan

This diagram should help!

And you'll need to connect the generator light cable to a lightbulb or a led with a resistor. I guess just a resistor simulating a light bulb will work as well if you don't want a led or light bulb...

I know I probably should have figured it out by now but I am a total newbie when it comes to the electrical part. This diagram only gives me the overall picture of how to connect the relays together and how to make the circuit board, what it doesn't give me is what wires to connect to this circuit. If someone could help me out here that would be highly appreciated Smile

Electrical parts can be confusing Shocked

But if you look closer you will se that you should connect the three wires from the gear indicator (yellow/blue, yellow/black and yellow/white) to the coil of each relay. You will also have to connect switched +12V (green/black) to the other side of the coil on each relay and to the switch side on the relays, because +12V in neutral is what you are looking for to make the bike start in neutral. So from the last of the three relays you connect the wire going to the start button (black/green). It's important to have a diode here, otherwise your neutral light will come on everytime you pull the clutch. The "from clutch switch" wire am I a bit uncertain about but I'm quite sure it connects to the start button wire (black/green) somewhere in the wireing of the bike...   Smile

If your speedo needs +12V for neutral, just connect it to the same pin as the start button BUT Before the diode. If the speedo wants ground for neutral (as mine do) you'll need the fourth relay as in the diagram.

I'm not the best either in Writing technical English or Electrics but I hope this made it a bit clearer... study

Here's a good thread on the charging light issue.  https://www.k100-forum.com/t8912-battery-charging-light-absolutely-necessary.  As far as I can tell, you can't use the charging light on the Acewell to get the job done because it doesn't give you an option to ground (it that's the right term) the other end of it to the alternator.  And, I think the Acewell uses an LED.  If that's so you'd also need a resistor, even if you could overcome the other problem.  FWIW, I have the Acewell and I added my own charging light consisting of an LED with a resistor already built into it.  Got it at radio shack for a few bucks.  Seems to work well.

My guess is as follows.

On the left side of the photo, Red = +12V and Brown = Ground
On the upper left of the photo, the three wires clustered together are to go to the TGPI switch.  Colour doesn't matter.
Far right of the photo, the purple wire is Neutral
Bottom of the photo, light green wire is Start Enable

Don't take this a gospel because it's a total guess on my part.  But its a good starting point.

Test the circuit on the bench by applying +12 and ground to the appropriate wires.  Touch each of the TGPI wires in turn to ground and the associated relay should "click".  If it does, good.  If it doesn't then my guess is wrong and you'll have to trace the wires.  If all is good, hook a voltmeter between Start Enable and ground; touch all three TGPI wires to ground and the voltmeter should change from 0V to 12V.

Your hookup to the bike's harness will be as follows.
- Red (+12V) to Pin 6 (Green/black)
- Brown (ground) to Pin 13 (Brown) or any good source of nearby ground connection
- all three TGPI wires connect in any order to the three TGPI wires coming from the switch (Yellow/White, Yellow/Black, Yellow/Blue)
- Purple (Neutral) to the neutral input on your Acewell
- Light Green (Start Enable) to Pin 5 (Black/Green)

Another question from mr. don't know it all.

Can I use the following relays? They have 8 pins (the one used in the example above have 4 pins). It was the only option at my local shop. It is still 12v and 1A.
