Hello and happy holidays to all. Anybody knows about instruments compatibility. May i use k 1100 instruments in K 100 1986?

Technical all K instruments work.

But!!!
On the backside of the instrument cluster the pins are different.
Either round from until 1988/1990 ore square from 1990 -
The fuel indicator is different, they are different in the tank and on the instrument!

So the K1100 ore 8 valve instrument will not fit because it has round pins and you will nett square pins!!!

Thanks for quick answer. I have first generation of fuel level sender in tank but I adjusted second generation instruments (1986) to fit by changing PCB in instruments. I have a red reserve light on 7 liters left.

Round pins could be the only problem. Do you know any good workshop for instruments in Germany, or source for first generation instruments?

Hi mate do not be concerned as round and square do fit together....I have a K100RS 1984 with 1990 instruments....I have also fitted many others of all years...Tacho and speedo and odometer will work but fuel indication requires some playing around with internals.

good luck...I always refuel at 250 km ...easy peasy

With some very basic alterations, swapping the tank would be easy too if you're wanting a fuel gauge.

Neither are more reliable than the other because they are all of the same basic design and construction.  If you've had problems with the earlier models it's because of the life they may have lead (i.e. more corrosion on connectors) or because the electronic components are reaching the theoretical MTBF.
