This might help someone elses troubleshooting.

My RT has had a light rythmic rattle coming from the brakes for a while, its been driving me mad. Also had sqeualing pads.

I'd already cleaned the pad backing and applied an anti squeal coating (this worked), sanded and cleaned the pins that the pads slide on and applied a thin smear of moly to the pins where the pads slide to help the pads move, cleaned the inside of the calipers for the same reason.  I know that some upgrade to stainless caliper pins, but we generally don't get the corrosion problems here in OZ to warrant it.  All this improved the brake performance but didn't get rid of the ticking.

I noticed that one of the 'W' shaped spring that holds down the centre pin on top of the pads was slightly loose. So I removed it and straightened it a little to put pressure on the tapered centre pin the way it was originally.  The ticking noise is now gone, it was simply the W spring and the centre pin moving a little.

Al

Just to add to Al's comment: don't ever be tempted to leave the anti-chatter kit out of the calipers. You'll drive yourself nuts trying to figure out where your fairing is loose!! DAMHIK. As to why I did it... maybe the logic will amuse you.

Guzzis and bricks both use P8 calipers
Both my Guzzis and my brick run cast-iron discs
If you leave the anti-chatter kit out of the Guzzi calipers, no problem
So leaving the anti-chatter kit out of the brick calipers shouldn't be a problem

Some of the R bikes also use the same calipers, mounted the other way round so a right front K caliper is a left front R caliper. Not sure which way they mount on the Guzzi but even the direction change can make a difference when it comes to noise or a harmonic frequency occurrence. My local Honda main dealer also maintains some of the police bikes and had pads in stock for my brick at a tyre change having noted they were the same ones. It helps that he is also a brick owner!.

For what its worth I would also remove and clean the pins, they are stainless but a light sanding smooth is a big help.
