Well here I am back in the mix with another project K, this time an '89 K100RS.  Figured I'd start with this post and reintroduce myself seeing as it's been over 4 years since I was active here.

I retired a few months ago and now that the cold damp weather is setting in on the west coast of Canada I felt I needed some projects to keep me entertained.  Currently creating a bobber from the world's ugliest production bike (1982 Yamaha Maxim 750) for a friend, and that's coming along nicely.  Yet I realized this would be completed before the new year, and then what?

A local bike shop that I frequent had previously offered me a couple of sad machines and I pulled the trigger on them yesterday.  One is an '89 K100RS, and I believe this is the Special Edition (white and blue), which had sat for some time as the PO had passed away.  Low kms and I think it'll come up fine.  The second is an '01 Moto Guzzi V11 with significant wiring issues, I suspect a mouse may have been dining on Italian copper.  The harness will need replacement.  Neither is running.

I'm sure I'll need some clever mates to help me get the K bike running, and maybe even speak some Italian, and I'll document progress.

So...  do you still love me?

If you bring the KRS/SE back to life as an SE then maybe , if you turn it into a Bobber/Café hack then we are done

In this case the SE shall remain pure in form. So that's a start...

Looking forward to following your resuscitation of the K100RS/SE.  Hope you can figure out how to post photos here and keep us supplied with visual updates of her progress.

I was going to say that if you were going to turn your SE into a bobber/rat bike/cafe/boy racer/grunge rider/zombie bike/ etc etc I was either going to jump on the ferry to talk some sense into you OR offer to buy it before you ruin it.  Once you get it running drop me a private message and we'll meet up.  I've never even seen another SE let alone ridden with one.

So this is really the perfect way to find one of these machines, tucked away and nearly forgotten.  Not sure why the one pic is laying down.  Anyone with skills, please feel free to fix it.  Mirrors and side cover are included.

Once again, reclining photo....  So this Guzzi is "all there", and will be reassembled to look very much like the second bike, which is on the showroom floor of the same shop.

Three of them... and I actually sold one (along with a K100!) earlier this year. The V50 is a bit of an odd sod: if yours was a MkII then I can guarantee that the lacking of firing was down to the wires that come out of the back of the pickup coils splitting where they push up against the crankcase; either that (most likely) or one or both of the ignition boxes having water migrate up the wires on onto the PCB.

Olaf I couldn't cope with an Italian twin so I'd rather eat grass than own a four!!!

Yes Dai  I think that it was a Mk11 and you're probably right 'cos it was really a dry day bike and went well in the sun but just didn't like the damp air down here at sea level in Norfolk. A bit like my daughter-in-law, she's Italian too and married to No1 son, they live in the sunny Carribean rather than Vancouver BC, can be damp there too, it was both times when I've flown in there.
I did like the V50's linked brake set up though, but a K is far easier to live with and is considerably more solidly built.

Carribbean makes me smile.

My sister in law is from there and they now live in Florida and kept a place there on the Virgin Islands.

Many generous invites to go but aluminium tubes, excess heat and nature trying to eat you doesn't sound as attractive even with the accommodation on offer as a few weeks with a K and a tent wandering around France.......At least the bugs there don't eat you or kill you.

Welcome back Club c. Bike looks pretty good. I like the white bags. Noticed it does not have a.b.s. They must have been optional. Good luck with both bikes!
