Hello,
I wasn't planning on buying a Flying Brick but it looks like I'll be getting a beautiful 1985 model in the near future.
I see one at work occasionally and always have to check it out and one just kind of fell into my lap (so to speak).
I rode one back in 1985 and being used to Guzzis with the linked brakes I nearly killed myself in the parking lot when I grabbed a handful of front brake!  That'll wake you up.
I currently have several Buells and a bunch of Triumph triples which I like an awful lot.
I think the K bike will be a great touring bike for the wife and myself as I remember them being very smooth with supple suspension and plenty of power.
I'll be driving everyone crazy with newbie questions for a bit once the bike deal is completed.
The first thing I'll be looking at is an exhaust as I do like to make a bit of racket but not too much!
Thanks,
Steve Ford

Hopping off of a LeMans IV and onto the K bike was a bit of a switch.
Nice of the shop to warn me about the brakes...

I don't expect this to be a Speed Triple monster bike but that's okay.
I remember the K bike as feeling very refined (to much so for me at the time) and it certainly made a decent amount of power.  It went rather well, as I recall.

I hope this deal goes through, it's going to be fun to have something different to bomb around on and from my research the Germans did their homework before releasing this model.  Even though it's an older machine I don't think I'll have to worry too much about it getting me where I'm headed.

P.S.
I'd like to see a write up of that Nuovo Falcone when you get it.
My first wife and I got married in front of a 50s Falcone many years ago and then honeymooned on the LeMans IV (with a hot wired ignition switch).  Ahhh, memories...

The wind roar is a bit much so I'll look into one of those little winglet jobs to see about breaking up the air blast - it hits right about upper forehead level so it's incredibly noisy.
The fairing is a Pichler which seems to work well otherwise.

New tires, fluid change, lube cables, looks like a fork seal is leaking, get the instrument lights working and we'll see what we've got.  Steel braided brake lines, Ferodo pads and a K&N air filter are on the list, too.
It's got an aftermarket shock and fork brace so I think it'll be a good bike once I figure my way around it a little bit.  Right now I'm puzzling over that bizarre instrument cluster and cleaning up electrical contacts and hitting them with dielectric grease.

Hi Steve, I recognize you and that bike from over on the badweb classifieds...  I have 4 Buells, a Guzzi and 4 K bikes myself.  And other stuff too... Anyway, you'll fit right in here!  Welcome!

Regards,
Steve

Sorry Steve - I missed this. I had to cancel the trade; the agreed price was €4000 (at the time of making the agreement, £2700). Then  a couple of weeks later we had that stupid Brexit vote, the £ crashed against just about every currency in the Western world and that £2700 went north of £3200 and was still going. The owner reduced the price to €3750 but by that time, even €3750 had climbed to £3250 and was showing no signs of slowing down.

Swamp2,
4 K-bikes?  I'll have to get this one on the road, then.  There must be something to them!
Somebody on Triumphrat was saying how the K-bikes are top heavy but I don't see it, especially compared to a Triumph Tiger which is a huge monster.  If anything, the K-bike seems tiny with a reasonable center of gravity.

Sorry to hear about the Nuovo Falcone deal going south, I think that would have been a fun bike for two lane back roads.
Right now I have twins, triples and now a four cylinder but no singles.  I should probably do something about that...

Ooops... I wrote in error... have 4 BMW's, but only 3 of them are K bikes... The other is a '77 R100S...  I don't find the K bikes to be particularly top heavy, but they are on the tall side.  Although as you note, compared the current crop of "adventure" bikes - maybe not so much.

Re: singles - since it was a Buell, I did have a Blast for a while.  Gave it a few simple mods and it was a pretty nice little scoot.  My only single at the moment is a '69 HD Sprint 350.  Runs, but not on the road, needs some love.  Retirement project!  Just like the last 2 K's I picked up.  And yesterdays' '82 Yamaha 920 Virago acquisition... and on and on...
