After years of using an overturned five gallon bucket to sit on while working on bikes, a while back I stumbled upon a better solution. I've been using one of these for a few years now and find it very handy. It's sold as a gardening tool but works great for bike maintenance.

Works great as a small low bench seat.
Can be flipped over to pad your knees or for a low to the ground seat.
Folds up easily for storage.

Have a seat Garden10

Search for "garden kneeler" to find one. (Currently about $18 at Walmart)

Excellent piece of kit indeed, complete with beer holder.

Even suitable for Harley riders.... up to 150kg.

I knocked this one up a few years back . adds character and comfort to the workload.

Have a seat 00811

A simple weld up of some 25mm tube steel .
Have a seat 01010
I've been tinkering with the idea of reattaching the tail piece that it came with , a tool box of sorts .
Might be a bit too big though.

Love that idea Ed.  I've got a spare single seat in the garage that I can use for it too. The base is damaged anyway so I wont be ruining anything.  And my neighbour two doors down has an old office chair sitting in his rubbish trailer too!

This end of the world it's a £9 wooden stool from Ikea. For building wiring looms etc. at the bench I have an 'office chair' that's actually been constructed from three different office chairs and a couple of blocks of wood under the seat to get the right height.
