Been grappling for a few months as to how to stabilise the Beast to allow removal of the centre stand/side stand assembly. I don't have access to a work platform thingo or a heavy lifting device (Like SCP has to lift the rear end onto tall support stands...) The following is what I came up with, and it worked a treat!

Uli, put a side car on it.... don't need a centre stand then.

Top marks there Rick . You don't realise how heavy these bricks are untill you take away the stand . 

Rosskko had a go with one of the Aldi bike stands , he duly noted its unease at holding Smurfette .

I tried one of the same stands , and near lost Ol'Blue from its grasp .



Best result I had was the implementation of a " Klompenstaander" , a rare item , but well worth its weight . Even keeps up to date with Forum activities .


Your genius definitely came to the fore here . 
the main hurdle Klompy and I struck was the thread loctite , gave in eventually . How was yours ?

Rosskko mentioned the 18" front wheel was not common when ordering tyres , would this be the main issue for the bike stand ?

Ed, The four Allen bolts off the spares bike were well and truly Loctited in. But with due B, F & I (Brute Force and Ignorance) all four came away relatively easily. The ones off the Yellow Beast came off real easy....

BTW, the side stand "sloppiness" was the reason I took the undercarriage off, swapping with the set from the spares bike. When I removed the single bolt that the side stand pivots on, I noticed that it is threaded virtually all the way, ie, the load bearing surface is threaded. I wonder if it would be worthwhile to machine up a new bolt, with a "shoulder" to bear the load, as well as a new bush?

If you check this post Robmack solution with the 2 pieces of angle iron offers endless possibilities.You can put the bike on pieces of wood or whatever is your choice. The bike is very stable.

Ulli, great work on holding the bike up. Works a treat. If you want to practice machining up a new side stand pivot bolt, feel free to use the underutilised bit of machinery I have in the shed.  Cheers Tom

You can also take the battery out and run a sawhorse through the frame. That's how I do spline lubes.



If I just need to pull the center stand off then I load it onto my trailer to keep the bike upright.

Get hold of a pivot bush for the brake lever and cut it down to length. It's a perfect fit: post 58
