Hi,
My name is Sammy Sam and I am from Newcastle N.S.W.
I got my bike license 4 months ago riding a little 99 DT175.
I asked a mate of mine who owns around 15 or so bikes, (ranging from KTM dirt bikes & Triumph cafe racers to soft-tail Harley cruisers and everything in between) what bike I should get. He said he has been eyeing off these K100's for a while and I should get in on it.
I looked up the bike on google images and knew this is what I wanted/became obsessed.
I found ripper of a deal on Gumtree for this 88 stationary brick that was said to run (it has 130,000 k's on it, I don't think it was pushed that far).
$800 AU inc. delivery.
I was at work when she was delivered and the wife called and told me "This wont start" and laughed. My 4 year old daughter was heard in the background crying " Its not purple or pink. I hate it"...
When I got home I stripped it back a little to check the work load. As a first time bike restorer I know I have a lot to learn and do.
I am currently at week 3 of the build and with help from this forum, a pdf K100 repair manual and youtube, I have installed a new fuel pump, filter and fuel lines. replaced spark plugs and cleaned out the injectors. changed the oil and filter and got the bike started.
this success was short lived though. After getting her started I took it for a ride down the street to check the gears and get a feel for what next. the bike has no working brakes (not the current problem) it stopped running. After replacing the blown fuel pump fuse a couple of times I found the fuel pump not working.
So that is were I am up to... ...Thanks for the help so far...
