It should be mentioned, since I understand it was requested the flask travel solely by motorbike, and as I'm leaving Sunday arvo by jet plane, upon repairing the RS' busted off shockie stud, Rick and I had a ceremonial passing of the flask, and it is in his good hands til the next passing.

I think we need to start a thread so as to keep track of the flask. I would hate to think of RossKKo being stuck in some remote corner without even a drop of that fine Honey Bourbon to keep him warm.

I'm in Waz . Coffee session ( Bikers Biggest Morning Tea) on Sunday 28th at Grey Gums , so I'll be heading out to Bathurst on the Friday .

(Quote Rick G, )
Since the Northern Tablelands ride last October I have had the RossKKo flask sitting in pride of place on my bookshelf.
It was to be passed on to one other forum member at the Karuah River Rally but due to circumstances beyond my control nothing happened so it will be passed on to a fresh member at the Snowy Ride after it has been refilled with some of the finest Bourbon.
We shall need to have a discussion as to how this is kept track of etc.

This thread may be suitable for just that Rick , as it is already sticky noted to the top of the forum search portal .
A few memories shared between yourself and Marg I'm sure . .

does anyone have a small stainless funnel that can be kept with the flask , to help make refilling a bit easier.
Klompy and I could certainly have done with one of these when filling the RossKKo flask.

At that time of the year it would not surprise me to see snow on Mt Panorama, I have seen it there at Easter for the races.

Al , are you interested in a Friday night Kampout on the mountain . Anyone else?
I'll have both the swag and tent packed ready for Grey Gums .So I may as well make use of them .
Rick , hopefully a couple of tarps strung up on the fence line should do the trick
If RossKKo brings on the rain , it could be a night in the local pub .

That would make it more doable, I'd really like to be at the Grey Gum by about 3pm Sat still have plenty daylight to play with.

No pub though, it would be Leroy, me and the sidecar, so camping would be it.  Quite cool up there.

sounds like a plan Al .
I'll be doing some family history on the North Shore on Friday morning ( 26th May) .
Stop in at Blues Point Reserve, McMahons Point for lunch and a quick pic, before heading west to the Blue Mtns .
Looks like we could be having a Koffee in Sydeney for Rosskko before heading to Bathurst .

Where and when can we hook up with you Al.

What do you call a deer with no eyes?

No-eye deer, at this stage, you suggested it after all.  Employer doesnt give a lot of flexibility.  No idea what time I'll finish till the day, so theres no certainty its absolute anyway.

Very tempted to pop down for this as I missed the Snowy run due to work commitments.

Last time I camped on The Mountain was Easter '88 and there was some rain. I remember a young Mick Doohan doing the business before he headed overseas.

You are a real trooper Waz , finding the courage to take a ride when feeling unwell .
Like many others , we look forward to a night on the mountain with our mate Rosskko.
I'm sure Holister is travelling on Friday as well , and he had suggested the Tarana Pub for lunch , not sure if this is something to offer into the Loffee chat .
I'm free to travel on Friday as well, possibly head down the M1 and meet Holister along the M7 somewhere , maybe pick Klompy up on the way through.

Guessing the Hunter Krew will voyage down the Bylong Valley , which is still an untravelled road for me . decisions , decisions................
see you all in on the Mountain .

Only one kind of predictable sickness like that......its often caused by contaminated drinking water. Scientific examination often reveals a highly complex mix of barley, hops, yeast and sugar in highly variable quantities in what can sometimes be a gassy mix.

Many years ago a friend rang into work to say that he was in no fit state to be at work. He was in fact in Adelaide watching the F1 GP. He claimed that South Australia was "no fit state".

Olaf, is that the cause or the cure?   Beer drinker

I believe it can do both equally well.

But for actually getting a definitive answer, that's the next question for the scientists, after they solve the question of which comes first, the chicken or the egg.

As you have Guinness showing in your photo, you should know for many years after donating blood here you were treated to a bottle of Guinness at the clinic. The slogan was 'Guinness is Good for You' which inevitably led to the 'Guinnless is Bad for You'.

Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks.

Talking with krew at the Sydeney Koffee last Saturday , a tentative meeting at the Richmond Maccas will have us in readiness for the ride up the Bells Line Rd.
A time is yet to be fixed .
How didd the Hunter krew go with plans for the Bylong Valley.

As far as I am aware we are meeting on friday Klompy .
Depending on what time folks get out of the city, we could make it around 10am .

sorry guys I'm out

the old replacement gearbox is kaput ...with only first gear available ...and second has to be held in by foot pressure .

once past second, all is fine , but I suspect the selector fork is bent ..and will not let me reliably get to third

I have new bearings for a gearbox refurbishment throughout gertys original gearbox ...including a good input shaft ..but a couple of seals are holding me back

please accept my apologies  for not being able to make it ..I will be following this thread for the pics and camaraderie that will be appreciated by many of us

good trip guys ...

rossco in in my mind as you venture along the great path

Rockman, we have a Hunter Krew Loffee meeting on Monday morning so no doubt the Rosskko anniversary will be high on the agenda. Watch this space from Tuesday on for our travel plans. I certainly plan to go over to Bathurst, early thoughts are after lunch on Friday. Love a cold night out camping, good practise for the Alpine Rally.
Cheers

G'day Gents

Trying to follow this thread - will you guys be camping at Grey Gums on Saturday night - so as to attend the Morning Tea on the Sunday Morn?

If so I will duck across from Laguna on the 650 (Via Howe's Trail)  for a cuppa?

Hi All! and especially those heading to Bathurst on 26/27th May to remember our friend Rosskko.

We had a bit of a round up today and those of us in the Hunter and regions north have a "plan". Rick G is travelling down to Newcastle on Thursday and will head out with Rickmeister, Tom and I on Friday morning in time to meet up with Smithy at Denman around 11:00am then push on over to Rylstone for lunch. Then onward to Bathurst to meet Waz up on Mt Panorama.

As many of you know, Rickmeister has officially retired from the camping scene and will be seeking accomodation in a pub in Bathurst. I am camping with Waz and I think Smithy and Tom might be doing the same.

Rockman, you may be able to come across to the New England highway to link up with Smithy heading south on Friday morning - worth a call to Smithy.

I will be heading from Bathurst to the Grey Gums Cafe on the Putty Road in the afternoon to camp over Saturday night in order to attend the Bikers Biggest Morning Tea event there on Sunday before heading home. Others may be planning the same.

Cheers

Holister was going to check up on the availability of firewood and council regs . I sent council an email awhile back , but no response .
a tarp and swag will be my lodgings for Fri and Sat nights .
I was at Grey Gums a couple of weekends back and have left two 3m x 3m gazebos which will provide some additional comfort .
I'll possibly be stopping in there as I make my way to Richmond either thurs night or early on Friday morning. With anticipation of catching up with Nigel for the run up Bells Line Rd.
Good to hear the Hunter and Northerners have "plans" in place .

One thing in our favour , Maccas at Bathurst is 24/7 , but doesn't serve liquor .

Stan bring the HOT coffees up to Sulman Park . we'll be needing them by the time you call in .

I may have to construct a multi layered heated tray system with a built in tilt arrangement... and of course separate compartment for sugar and stirrers. Sorry, forgot, the stirrers will be there already.

I would like to make a suggestion to the membership who have followed this thread.

As we approach the first anniversary of the passing of our good friend Rosskko, I am personally looking forward to the opportunity next weekend at Bathurst to gather with friends and celebrate the life of Rosskko and the contribution he made to this forum and my life. Maybe its the Irish in me, but I would like to make the distinction between that celebration and the grief we all felt at the time of his passing.

To that end I would like to do our reporting of this upcoming gathering and future remembrances of the man, I'm sure there will be many, in the other thread on this forum called "Let Rosskko ride with you" and close this thread to further posts, but leave it as a sticky where it is currently located for members to be able to refer to in the future.

Maybe the "Let Rosskko ride with you" thread could become a sticky as well in the Australian Rides and Meetings section.

Thanks for your consideration.
