Hi guys,
I have a 1984 K100 but the tank had some erosion on the top,in front of the petrol cap - from the cavitation pipe metal tube.
A replacement (1993?) K1100 tank has been purchased and 'sprayed', this did not come with a fuel pump so I am finding a problem fitting the pump to the newer tank as the fabricated aluminium housing is of a different design to the 1984 model. The round aperture is good but there is no allowance for the breather side exit pipe on the basket filter, so the filter cannot be lowered and clipped in place.
This is difficult to explain unless somebody has previous and I suppose a photo would be a great help to visualize but I think I could cut a small piece from the housing to allow the pump to rest as it should, also there is no metal tube in front of the petrol cap for the cavitation pipe to attach to - Q: If I can get the pump seated would it be okay to just strap the pipe high up in the tank? it doesn't have to be pressurized, does it?
