Hi I'm posting to say hello to all. Greetings All ! 723598

I have been interested in a K100 for some time now and but it wasn't until recently that I seriously considered getting one to tinker with. So with a little help from you knowledgeable guys on this forum I will be able to ease into a K100 ownership with a bit more confidence. But until that day happens I will be stalking whilst I read up on old postings and discussions to help familiarise myself with the 'flying brick'. Greetings All ! 78846

Glad to be part of this forum. Greetings All ! 112350 Cheers all

Greetings Bajaru welcome to the place of all things K.
If you go to the downloads section you will find a link to "so you just bought a BMW"
it's a good read and very informative for those buying and those who have just bought a K100.

Welcome too from the Northern Territory.

Don't worry about being a stalKer, you will learn lots from even just reading the posts. Everyone is very helpful and there is a great atmosphere on the forum. Some of us even meet up and for many of us we have made great new friends through the forum.

Especially don't be afraid to ask a question, even one that seems a simple one.

A wisdom is coming to the forum and you will learn what to look out for when you go looking for a K......

On the Portal page you'll find a few links in the middle. The first one is the one you're after "So you just bought a K100..."
Another very useful link is the second one "EFI/Ignition Troubleshooting".

Cheers

Welcome!

You are doing exactly as I did - I got interested in the possibility is a K when I saw a craigslist ad for one.

Unfortunately I didn't get that 9ne (a particularly good buy), but did get one eventually for a good price.

I love this forum and the members are great.

88KE, there is some validity in what you say, and it makes perfect sense for me right now. I just spent the last couple of evenings trolling the net for possible sales and there seems to be some beauties/bargains to be had. Called up and spoke to 3 different owners and this need to own is contagious! (now i want all 3 of them - Shocked ).

Two of the bikes currently has 'Vintage Club' registrations and is not transferable upon sale, the other is unregistered, and I live miles (about 3500kms) away from the closest one. Initially I planned on a buy and ride home but this option now looks mighty slim. One owner swears black and blue his bike will do the distance without any issues as he was planning a 'round Australia' trip himself before he fell ill, and I sincerely felt pity for him. He sounded really genuine. The other 2 were kinda hit and miss! and didn't fill me with confidence.

As for the Vintage Club registration, I now need to look into this to see how I can best get around the the 'buy and drive' option. I guess its all horses for courses before I make my final decision. Ultimately, I want a bike that I can ride and not just sit waiting for parts in the back of a garage....

Not easy finding this elusive K100. I been giving the 3500Km + affair some serious thought and I think I had better be looking for something closer first....so its back to the search sites

Thanks Rick G. Yes it looks great, don't know why the K75's was never on my radar. So far I've only looked for K100rs, probably bcoz I already have a K1200rs and wanted to keep the K100 closer to the 'RS' series. Perhaps it was foolish of me? Greetings All ! 161205

Anyway I shall keep my options open for now....

Welcome, bajaru.

The seat on the bike without the coloured side covers is the K series factory low seat. There is a rubber piece that goes over the tank a bit and covers some of what the normal side covers would hide.
I'm not sure how much difference there is in height, but there will certainly be someone with that knowledge.

Bill

Hey Bajaru

I'm needing an excuse to head up to Perth (and beyond)! We should catch up - that Geraldton one must be later than '85 with those three spoke wheels? If you prefer my standard k75c for height then we could swop bits over from my second K75c (just a thought)

I will send you a pm

Cheers

92KK 84WW Olaf, it is very tempting but renting an apartment in Perth does not make for good garage/workshop space, especially if the bike needs TLC and sending it out to a mechanic is not an option. Besides I already had a bike stolen from my secure basement parking space in September last year and with zero hopes of recovery...according to the boys in blue!

Hi Rawdonball, no problem about the swap if I do end up getting that K75 with the wrap-round covers. I shall keep you posted.

Shocked There must be others out there looking at K75's too...there was another one for sale yesterday (rather cheap too I must admit, Aus$1500) but before I could get around to seeing it, it went too, to some lucky person!

I'm still looking
