Hello all and thanks for the add.

I live in southern England and have just bought my first BMW - a K75RT with 76,000 miles on the clock.

I have other bikes and bought it as a winter hack. I bought it 'blind' from a well known auction site. It was cheap and I wasn't really expecting much from it. I had never ridden one before and the for the first half mile after collecting it I was thinking to myself "What the hell have you just bought?" Compared to my Harley and Ducati it seemed to whir like a sewing machine, felt top heavy and everything worked a little too easily........ By the time I got home, some 25 miles later I loved it!...... Why had I waited so long before buying one?

I am very impressed with the tractability of the engine........ I find myself in 5th gear at 35mph but it will still pull well up to 100mph.

I know very little about these bikes mechanically but I hope this will change soon with the help of some input from this forum.

Welcome......

As a late starter be prepared for some serious enthusiasm. Don't be afraid to ask questions, these bikes go forever and you can ride them all day long.

Have a read though the links that Chocolate sent and feel free to ask questions, everyone is very helpful and before you know it you will have another K to stop your K75 feeling lonely.

Welcome, from an ex resident of Guildford . . . in Sydney, NSW, Oz.

I did a similar thing - bought my (first) K100 from an online auction site, sight unseen. Some small mods for my convenience, and routine maintenance, but it just goes!

Getting to know, online and personally, some of the denizens of this part of the interweb has been a real bonus. To be recommended.

Bill

Ha Bill I just noticed your RT and mine are fairly close. My engine is also 3284. Small world.

And you thought Ireland was a small place.....

Welcome and congratulations on your purchase.  I have a K100 now but have had several K75s.  The brick is a very underestimated bike, enjoy it.
