During a Krew gathering a few months back , I aired a thought of making tracks to the west , to catch up with a seldom seen Krew member , Stan .
Its time to put to plan a weekend outing to the wonders of the west, namely the Bylong Valley. I've heard so much of it , and am yet to experience.
I would like to put it to the Krew for a visit to Kandos to take the sKroll to Stan for him to make his mark.
My thoughts at this stage are for a ride in May next year . Most weekends are free for me .

I'll support that Ed. The Bylong Valley is my preferred route out of the Hunter Valley for all destinations south and west of Sydney.

It's one you certainly want to experience.

The Skype idea worked really well, its one to try again when we get an event to coincide. Now why did I put that in this thread, only because I remembered Rossko is planning a trip up this way at that time and a visit to Stradbally Fayre is a must.

I.m in. Can be dangerous late May, Rickster and I were in Mudgee late May last year, -8C overnight, tight bottom riding home through that direction.

No caravan park in Kandos but motel is ok , good meals etc (double rm + child $120 ish). Stayed there last Sept after disintegrating uni joint in driveshaft at Ilford. NRMA guy at Kandos was great, lent me his workshop, no charge and was back on the road in a couple of hours as I had a spare driveshaft on board.

RT it sounds like Santa needs to find some handguards and heated grips for that beast of yours to prepare for this coming winter (thinking back to a ride from Goulburn to Cooma last winter).

Never been that cold before. I have purchased Oxford Hot Grips, removable hand warmer package that Indian36 Bill says he will help me install. Don't need that right at the moment, this is real naked bike weather, even in Robertson.
I did the Snowy Kahncoban(looks wrong) Thredbo/Jindabyne run a few weeks ago, snow up the top but the wind was ferocious. I think my panniers create problems in cross winds. Never had that with the K. Sad

we stayed at  rylstone caravan park this year commonage back from the fair cairn, nice little park, pub is great
last year we stayed in candies, great motel next door to the pub or you can stay at the pub, good meals to be had
bylong road is awesome,great scenery, twists, road surface is not great but its fine for us BMW'eers.
May is hard for me as we will be away celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary.

The pub/motel at Kandos is pretty good. The NSW BM club used it often for award dinners, but the dining room was too small for the numbers.  Good spot in the cooler months, they have a great outdoor firepit in the beer garden.

thanks for all the info guys , certainly helps to get inside info from those who are travel wise . 
The next most important info we need is , when will Stan be home , or able to meet up  so we can share the kamaraderie once more.
Should May be awkward , my thoughts are to invade his place on our way to the Far Kairn  Rally in Sept .

some adjustments needed to be made here . 
this ride was to take the sKroll ( banner ) across to our mate stan . 
plans have changed slightly and an earlier visit may be needed . 
We are receiving a visit from our esteemed english friend Born Again in April , and following the ride the sKroll will be immediately posted to TWB for a cross America roadtrip. 
I have messaged Stan , and it is now proposed we consider the Anzac weekend ( April 23-24-25) , maybe even travel to Stans place if he is up to it.
keep in mind this is the last week of school holidays and roads can be hectic .

any thoughts ?
