Hello Folks,
I have been a fan of BMW motorcycles for as long as can remember, but just recently purchased a 1987 K100RS with just a little over 92k miles that has been sitting for over 2 years.  I have presented myself with somewhat of a double whammy on this one: this is my first BMW bike and this will be the first time I attempt to revive a bike that has been sitting for awhile.
Wish me Luck!
I am from Upstate NY and have some experience working on the Japanese bikes, but zero with the BMW's so this should be quite a learning experience for me...
Looking forward to being here!

Similar story to mine in 2010 I bought my first bike in 15 years and first BMW a K100LT that was sitting for 4 years.

Best thing for you my man, is to go to the POrtal tab above and under the interesting links click "You just bought a used k100, so what now".

Welcome to the Klub!!  Laughing Laughing

Thank you all for the welcome!

I will definitely check out the Portal and see where I should begin, thanks KE75!

Received he Clymer's Friday and thanks to the lovely search option here, I was able to find the string containing the link to the Factory manual and have downloaded that. Hopefully I'll have some time tomorrow to start my research.

Point-Seven-Five- I am in Albany.

Sounds like whenever I go to New England on the brick next year I'll have to give you a call.

Sounds like a plan, please do! Hopefully I'll have made some significant progress by then...

First attempt at getting to the battery was successful today and even better, the battery will take a charge! One less thing...

Now to figure out this pesky ignition switch issue...

Welcome from downunda Clark
Quite a few of us have had to deal with that pesky ignition switch issue. It's easily fixed and we'll documented here on the forum.
Cheers
