It's on again, on the weekend of the 21/22 of November.
Camping at our property "Riverdale" will be available again on Friday and Saturday night as ride day will be Saturday 21/11,  bbq and drinks on both these nights.
Ride option one:
Riding to Dorrigo for coffee then riding to Coffs Harbour for lunch at the Surf Club at Park Beach. Then returning to Guyra via the Orara Valley then the Nymboida Ebor road. This would be a full day ride again.
Ride option two:
In the event of scorching hot weather on the day, or just wanting a shorter more relaxed ride, we will just ride the Dorrigo loop via Waterfall Way to Griffith's lookout for some pic's, then back to Dorrigo for lunch. After lunch returning to Guyra via the Tyringham road via north Dorrigo to Dundurrabin then back to Guyra.
Some tempting pic's of previous Tablelands rides.

Not sure Smithy.

Have a Katana ride to Khankoban the weekend after.

Think a 1100RS would be a better ride for me butt, but will have to see.

rosskkkko

Thinking this may be a better option than the katana ride and can possibly get a kat and a k there.

Should be coming.
New clutch and rear main seal arriving in the next week so hopefully I can teach myself some new tricks and change them on the 1100 before leaving (or leave it till the Friday night at Smithy's and change them by moonlight down in the lower 40).

Planning on leaving after work on Thursday, around 3pm and getting part of the way up. Should make Gloucester by 6ish leaving a merry little jaunt to Smithy's on Friday.

Anyone else from the south have any plans?

Captain  if your heading up the hill ,

I have a plan (at the moment)  to be through there about 12.00 - 12.30 on the Friday if travelling the fast and direct route  out of brissy straight to warwick .

have requested other interested folks (in another place ) to possibly meet up in brissy before departing .. around the "Oxley " Blunder road offramp at Harvey Norman - macdonalds ...about 10.am

of corse, as usual, at this point I will be planning on travelling alone ...but feel I have to put the message "out there"

perhaps there may be some others that may want to join in

open to suggestions about a southerly leave over mt Lindsay to Kyogle , Casino then up to Tenterfield  before heading again south  so plans may change in time frame as the week passes .

ill keep in touch

Charlie

Heading up on the Thursday after work and meeting Rickmeister and RT at Denman where we have lodgings for the evening.
Plan on going the quicker way via the highway. Hopefully arrive by dinner time.

Friday morning, RT and I will be doing our best to keep up with Rick as he meanders his way toward Smithy's.

Bring the bits along Rick, we may end up at the Surf Club for lunch. I'll put it to a vote on Friday night after the BBQ when we're all two parts tanked.
Last year it was just so bloody hot we were all glad to get back to Guyra after the full day ride, the weather has been great so if it stays like this a full day's ride could be on the cards.

Lads...As the designated Tour Fuhrer...the plan is, at this stage: RT, Rossko and my good self are overnighting at Denman on the Thursday night. I am going to take the long cut to Denman, via the Putty road, Bell road, Lithgow and then to meet RT at Ilford at 13:00hrs. From thence, Bylong Valley way to Denman for O/N and some lagers. Friday...make our way to Nundle, Dungowan, Port Stephens Cutting, Nowendoc and meet up with bro Tom and hopefully others (Warren C, Bill from Goulburn) at Walcha for lunch between 12:00 and 13:00 on Friday. Thence to Guyra, via Uralla and the highway.

Bob and I will not be camping at Smithy's, because of an old blokey thing aversion to camping. We will be staying at a pub in Guyra. So, depending on the time that we get to Guyra, we will go to Smithy's, have a chat etc, but then spend the evening at the town itself, and meet up in the morning for the ride to the east.

Cheers, Rickmeister.

Rickmeister, what's this no camping? Don't forget you've got "the chair" especially for those occasions.

............ or is it the bad influence of that bloke from the southern highlands who is dragging you into these country pubs, cause I know how much of a struggle it is to get you into them.

Enjoy the weekend guys, I don't think I'll be over the jet lag in time to get there and keep an eye on you. Currently bumping our way across the Irish Sea - we had booked the fast catamaran ferry for our return crossing but with a forecast of a Force 9 gale approaching that ferry was cancelled and we're on the much larger conventional ship. Visibility is at least 150 metres.

Cheers

Gaz - make sure you get the refund. There's a considerable difference between the price of the fast ferry and the 'superferry' - normally the refund is done automatically within a day or two of the sailing (sometimes before, if they know that the fast ferry will be cancelled) but keep an eye on the bank balance.

Tom and Bill what time do you blokes reckon we should meet up on Friday morning to meet the chaps for lunch at Walcha? How's about 8:30am? BP Beresford?

I hope I'm not a late minute scratching - I've further dinged my front wheel riding though a massive pot hole past Wisemans on the way to Spencer and the tyre is not holding pressure - taking it to have it fixed tomorrow - hopefully should be back by departure date.....

OK Rosskko, Rickster and RoberT are booked into Royal Hotel Denman Thursday 19th.
Then Ulli and RT are in the Guyra Hotel 20th and 21st. All sorted.
Like a lot of us I have severe arthritis in my spine, so camping is not really an option for me, unless I spend up big on camping gear and a trailer/sidecar. Not going to happen. So don't think I'm being a rudester not sleeping in the lower 25 with you lot.

Sorry, I'll have to pass (again). I hit a big roo down your way ( between Glenn Innes & Emmaville) in May this year.
I am not yet able to ride (smashed up my left arm & shoulder pretty badly - 2 operations on it so far).
Hope you guys have a good time and it doesn't rain.

Well done, Bob!  Thinking about Friday's route to Walcha. Sent an email to the Upper Hunter Shire council to see if the road from Merriwa to Willow Tree (Coulsons Rd) is sealed. If so, that would probably be my preferred option, avoiding the highway as much as possible. If not, topic for discussion on Thursday evening. Need to be at Walcha by 13:00.

Haven't heard from them yet.

According to my Google maps there's a big patch right in the middle of the forest that looks like dirt. Yellow dirt, like you make porcelain out of.
However, as I am now on a crossdressing bike, it should be ok in the DRY. Except that I have just ordered Pirelli
Scorpion 2 tyres (road based) for next week. Nice one Herr Langwegubermeister.

Avoid that road like it has plague. I asked about it a few months ago in Merriwa and the woman in the local servo said it has been responsible for many bad crashes with bikes and the rocks eat tyres for fun.
She said they as NRMA patrol get to see all the roads and it is by far the worst and they get many calls for assistance from that stretch of gravel.

Hey RT, those Pirelli Scorpion tyres will surprise you on gravel, in a good way. The original Scorpion Trail were what I first put on the K75 and with the pressures lowered a bit they were very comfortable into and out of last year's Alpine Rally with the infamous greasy hill and probably 50 odd kms of gravel (when Rosskko accompanied us on his red beast with Shinko tyres).

I have to agree with Rick G though on that Merriwa road, although last time I went across was when I lived in Mudgee.

Cheers guys - have fun.

I went through the Merriwa-Willow tree rd last year. Some fairly rocky road in the southern quarter, ok dirt after that. You'd get through ok if you took it very steady, and some good scenery.

BUT, you are probably better off going Merriwa-Scone, or up through Coolah to Gunnedah. Sealed both ways, but a bit boring.

Sounds like nothing's changed since I drove thru there sometime around the early 90s. It practically shook my VN Commodore to bits and took an age to reach the h'way. Always went the Scone way after that.
Mmmmm.... sKone sounds more fitting for K-bikers anyway:lol:

I went though that road on my way back from the Far Cairn rally a few years ago. The rocky section caused my tail light bulb to fail.
I ended up changing the bulb at Glen Innes. unfortunately the right side cover came loose and departed in the pitch black of night along the New England highway.
The road through Coolah to Gunnedah is pretty good and the bakery at Coolah has good food.

just some news

gerty is making some orrible noises

at just off throttle and before backing off whilst travelling ,,,there is some noises coming from what sounds like the alternator area ....monkey nuts perhaps ?

but with further experimentation  throttle on - off ....and recent clutch issues (where the clutch plate doesn't seem to disengage  whilst backing off ....and a huge backlash effect whilst transitioning from throttle on to throttle off  )

I think I will have to investigate this further ....im thinking at the moment, that I have a failing output shaft ...rattling with the near synchronous speed and engine revs

of corse the blooming gearbox bearings could also be the issue, as gear changes seem solid ...but difficult on decleration  ...but need to take a look before heading south ....verry soon .

cross your finger blokes ....have had too many issues just recently

hoping to make it but ....
