Just uploaded a video that I took art the start of September when on a week's trip through France, over the Pyrenees, into Spain and back again.
Used my hideously expensive Xiaomi Yi. (£69 including spare battery)
Go Pro? Pah!
This one is when we were dropping down into Spain, down through the foot hills and gorges.
Temperatures were high twenties. Half an hour before, they were about 10c.
Have more footage to edit from going over the toP.

Nice ride Comberjohn, thanks for posting (provided a welcome 20 minute break from doing what I am supposed to be doing - i.e. working!).

On the strength of your recommendation, I've just gone and bought myself one...probably going to go for the side of the helmet mount option like yours so that it can give a higher aspect view than my low slung garmin virbe does. As you can see from your vid, you get the view over the wall/hedge/barrier at eye level and have the option for a sideway look to take in the panorama when desired. I'll have to learn that steady head discipline

Out of interest, is your camera mounted direct to your helmet or is it mounted in a dive housing? Obviously, the dive housing makes it  very waterproof - if a little bulkier, but I wondered whether it would cut down the wind noise (the only thing that distracts from the quality of your video)? I don't like silent movies (never did - all that dubbed in piano music etc.) and it is good to hear the tones of the bike...but not the wind.

Exceptionally good value though - for the price I recently paid for a Garmin GPS motorbike mount and RAM hardware to fit it, I have ordered 1x Xiaomi Yi camera, 1x dive housing, 2x rechargeable batteries and dual charger and a 39 piece combo accessory kit (whole range of mounts and other gizmos).

It won't replace my trusty Garmin Virbe, but will supplement it very nicely.

I look forward to Part II of the movie....

Hi Paul.
Yes, it's the dive case attached to the side of my helmet with a go pro sticky mount. Same one as I used when I had a go pro.
All of the go pro joints and pieces fit it.
When you get the dive case, I would recommend that you drill a few holes in the rear door.
When I started to use mine the first sign of sun or heat and condensation formed around the lens. Then I remembered that the go pro came with two rear doors, one with slots in it.
No more condensation issues since I drilled and you're unlikely to be using it in a downpour.
Wind noise is always a problem. At least with these clips I wasn't going fast enough for it to be a big deal.
The best place on the very front of the bike, at the bottom of the screen. Had it there on the GS going up the Antrim coast road.
Brilliant footage!
You were leaning while watching it and the exhaust sounded great with very little wind noise.
Then the condensation started and at low revs the camera tried to do an impersonation of a propeller. Flat twins!
May try it again as now there's no condensation and I've been able to smooth out the engine and increase the torque using a Power Commander that I picked up on eBay. Great improvement.
I think it's to do with an even flow of air on either side of the camera. Stuck on the side of the helmet there are more eddy air currents.
Some stick them on the top of the helmet. Think it makes you look like a knob and watching motorcycle footage from that high makes me feel queasy.
Think I have a clamp for the crash bars that I could try.
There's no skill holding you head still.
The camera is attached to the helmet which becomes your reference point and everything else moves. Don't even think about it.
Still have some footage to edit from the top of the Pyrenees. 180 bends and narrow roads without walls or fences and several hundred foot drops! You don't blink much up there.
My mate suffers from vertigo and I thought he was going to throw a complete wobbly at one point.
Try to get them up next week.

Thanks for the extra info John, very useful.

I'll think about the hole drilling thing - unlikely to use in a heavy downpour....but highly likely to get caught in one (as I often do). My garmin dive housing actually has silica gel inserts, so condensation is probably not an uncommon thing.

Yes, as I said, the go pro came with two rear doors, one solid, one with slots.
Never had any condensation with the solid door on the go pro. Maybe they had something similar.
Go Pro recommended the slotted door for use up to 100mph but you still had a lot of wind noise.

Very nice John, feeling quite mellow and chilled out after watching that little montage. Lovely quiet roads too - but I guess it was out of holiday season.

Thanks for sharing (again).

Excellent - something to watch tonight rather than yet another repeat episode of NCIS.

Took my Yi for a spin at the weekend - results look pretty good. Side mounted on helmet worked OK...but tempted to try the dork look helmet top mounting to see what difference that makes.

and now I've watched it - Fabulous!! Nice one Comberjohn. Pyrenees now definitely on my to ride list.

Lovely CJ - I was bored with the TV and am now glad I switched it off and found that wee gem. I sure is steep and surprisingly green at the top. Like BAE I have that area on my hit list.
