Took a ride up to Hurricane Ridge the other day late in the afternoon.

Mt. Olympus in the background - summit is 7,980'.

OK, maybe it's a few feet short of mile high but it's close enough for me.

Hmmm nice spot I reckon that would pass muster for a mile.

I just worked it out and Australias highest town Cabramurra is only 1480mtrs (4855 ft) but the roads round there are just as twisty.

Excellent photos!

Kato looks like he's enjoying himself too. He should relax more...he always appears to be ready to spring into action.

Come on over, Chaz. There's a coupla K bikes (or an R1150RT) in the garage you could ride and a comfortable spare bedroom too. We are about 130 miles (210 Kms) from Hurricane Ridge through some fine countryside with an inland sea (Puget Sound) to traverse along the way.

That goes for any of my fellow OZs who need a break from the Lucky Country.

jeez ..(aussie slang stuff ) wish i could get away dazza

a mighty enticing offer indeed ...thanks mate ......will keep it in the back of my mind at the moment

still trying to get the new car on the road ....think i have found the issue after head regrind and loss of cooling fluid into the sump ...

there may be an interference issue around the timing cover area with the head and block holding the head gasket open after tightening down in just one corner ...blast ...pull down again to happen when i get back to brissy this weekend ....and rectification of the parts causing the issue

mighty awesome hills around that area indeed ...from pics of yours ..and others adventures .....mmmmmmm
cheers

Stop it Daz, as you will only encourage us! bounce

I may be heading over to AZ for a couple of weeks in late March/early April.  I have friends arriving here in October to borrow one of my 75s and the return offer is of a V-Strom in Illinois.

Decisions, decisions.  scratch

Late March & early April is the time of the season when the winds are blowing hard from the west across much of southern UT, AZ & NM, but the sun will be shining.
