Which end are you starting from?

Presumably you will end up near Kinsale/Cork at some point in which case a coffee or whatever is in order. Might manage another Eccentric or two along the way.

Sky road looking really good.......

Olaf.

A busy day on the Wild Atlantic Way today. My friend Charlie took a day off.

A traffic jam Irish style.

Becky, take note at how we deal with sheep over here.

Met with one of those yesterday on the way to work. Head sheep just stood in the middle of the road, chewed a long tussock of grass hanging out of its gob and stared me down. Of course, I was late for one of the most important company meetings this year. I blamed it on the sheep and they actually believed me! Shocked

Maybe you have sheep that are different there but the ones here don't think they just react and if that means the 10000 on the left side of the road joining the one on the right side for safety then that is what happens and right there in front of you.

I'm sure that motorists sometimes wonder why I'm going so slow around sheep.  Back in 1970 something, my friend was leading across the moors on a RD350.  I was on a Norton Commando (on one of the few times it was actually working).  We were doing about 70.  The sheep on the left never reacted to the RD350 at all - so I thought I was safe.  A split second later the sheep shot across in front of me, inches from the front wheel.

It doesn't bother you so much when you're young, does it.  But I've never forgotten.

Lots of sheep in various parts of Oz that I've lived in, ridden through and driven through.
The one thing you can count on is that one or more will do something stupid, though it must seem sensible to them! Think of the stupidest thing they might do and they will surprise you by doing something even more stupid. affraid

I've found kangaroos to be more of a problem here in Oz, and they get around in herds too. They're nearly as unpredicable as sheep but move 10 times faster... and do a lot of damage at speed. Being a little bigger and taller they'll ride up on the bonnet. I've had a couple that I thought were going to come in thru the windsceen.
Nearly collected one on my bike a few months back.

I must say, I felt so sorry for all those bikers doing the WAW last month, cus the weather was shocking, last monday( bank holiday) was 9c here in Galway and 60+mph winds, RAIN rough seas. March and April were better... I had to remove my battery and recharge, due to lack of use...If I am takin holidays, I expect blue skies and sunshine.....Hopefully weather should steady out soon..

Strange to read these posts but it tells us what Comberjohn's weatherstone has been up to. Its over here in France pumping out 35c. It affects our batteries too. Have to stop every half hour and sit outside under the shade while our batteries are replenished.

But the WAW and the Antrim Coast when the weather is half decent is impossible to beat.

Thanks for that weather update, Olaf.
Suppose I'll appreciate the heat in my bones when I'm your age. Very Happy
Do have a plan for the Pyrenees at the end of August though.

Gets colder the further North you go.....could be that.

Butt he weather stone worked really well, rain dropped as we got to St Nazaire on the morning we came off the ferry and then a steady rise to 35C sunshine. Not sure if you young ones could take the heat.....

If you are heading down to the Pyrenees you will love it. We spent our time mostly in rural France and it is hard to beat. Photos will emerge soon on a separate thread.

First day waking up here and its drizzle and about 10C!

Not seen any sign of you for a while, not sure if you were following the thread on the camping get together on 1st August.

Anyway plan is to stay Monday 3rd at Eagle Point Bantry, Tuesday 4th at Glenbeigh, Wednesday 5th at Fanore and Thursday 6th somewhere near Westport/Clifden or a bit further east near 88KE.

Was thinking you might want to come along for some of it if you are around.....

Was out on the WAW last Tuesday and got some footage on my video.
We were driving down from Dungloe to Portnoo. Working on editing another clip from Portnoo to Slieve League Cliffs. Stunning scenery.
Incidentally, took this on my cheapo, Chinese, Go Pro clone. £70 including a spare battery!

I don't watch any videos because of a 20Gb download limit each month (sattelite connection) but if that image is anything to go on then the quality is certainly good.

This is from Glengesh Pass to Slieve League Cliffs. Using Vimeo this time as the playback quality seems to be better.

Thanks for the heads up Olaf, I will certainly hook up along the way on your trip, as you'll be spinning around my back garden. I am suffering cabin fever with the weather, and have booked 2 weeks in Aug to achieve a decent spin, May the weather stone be dry and warm:)
