Working on bike for a friend.  His father gave him the bike 10 years ago, wasn't running at the time - dead fuel pump.  At least it was in a garage all those years!

Replaced fuel pump & battery.  Going to clean the injectors, can't get them out!  They wiggle, even put WD-40 & let soak for an hour.  We were pulling so hard on the fuel rail that I got scared we'd bend it.

Any suggestions?  Thanks,
Chuck in Dallas

Make sure you clean around the injectors very well before they come out or the grit goes down the port.
Try some acrilic thiners the O-rings often dont like it and it will penetrate much better than WD40. Also try to remove the fuel rail then one injector at a time as you can get more room to twist and turn them to break the seal.

yep undo the clips to the fuel rail that hold the injectors in place first

then you might be fighting just one at a time from the head instead of the collective fusion of them all

I used 6mm plastic tubing, duct-taped into a vacuum cleaner nozzle to suck out any remaining debris.
And then a small hammer handle to gently pry the rear end of the fuel rail out a little then work towards the front. Worked for me.

As per Nigel's (KH) suggestion I ripped the guts out of an old biro and taped that to the end of the vacuum cleaner.  After I loosened the debris around the injectors with a dental pick (or a bit of lockwire).

Then with a long set of 90 degree offset pliers I levered them loose.  You will need the fuel rail removed for access to do this.  You can wrap tape around the plier jaws if you are worried about damaging the injector.

I then cleaned the injector holes with a dental pick whilst at the same time using the above vacuum nozzle extension to suck up the debris.  (This is where you need a third hand to hold the torch)

Hopefully I will put them in for a service tomorrow.

Cheers, TacKler.

"(This is where you need a third hand to hold the torch)"

Use a head torch. Both hands are now free.

My 2 cents worth.

If you come from Tasmania you would not need that head torch.
