Im after views on tyres for the rear and front for that matter. front is great but the rear is pathetic, a conti road attack2. 3000miles and squared off, no real hard riding.
Any views on tyres used by members would be great

Michilin PR3 or Pirelli Angel you'll get good life from both.

Argon has a 91 K100RS.

Have you seen the Tire Recommendation page on Motobrick yet?  If you are interested in radials, I run Bridgestone T30 Battlax tires both front and rear on my K75 (equipped with K1100 forks and swingarm, and 3-spoke K1004V rims).  These are excellent tires and can be found in sizes that fit the 3-spoke rims (but not the snowflake rims).

+1 Pirelli Sports Demon. On my 3rd, I run it a bit lower, 38psi (one fat rider and a few tools and spares) and it seems to not get so worn in the middle. Averaging 14,000 klm.

Don't worry RT, I'm with you. I reckon I should get a discount when I buy a new tyre if I were to take in the old one because I never use the outside bit.

I've got a set of PR3's on my '91 RS and they seem very good. They're wearing evenly with good grip. I've done 2600 miles on the tyres and considering they were on the bike when I bought it,there's plenty of rubber left. I also run PR4's on my newer bikes.
Michelin seem to be making class leading tyres at the moment.

I'm in agreement with Robmack that Bridgie's current T30 radials are an excellent choice, and for many reasons. They've replaced the BT023 series. In the workshop, we fit them mainly to heavy touring bikes like the K1600GT/GTL series, and K12/1300GT, but also to R1200RT. They're lighter in the carcass, dual compound, come in many different sizes and are far less expensive than their main competitors, Metzeler Z8 and Michelin Pilot Road 3 or 4. Plus, folks say they get good life out of them.

A coupla hard charging K16 pilots I know swear their bikes tip in quicker wearing the T30s than the Metz or the Mich. I reckon it's true but living in the often Pacific North Wet of the US, the Michie PR4 is still the best rain tyre. We're under heavy drought right now - no appreciable rain for months. Very unusual.

On my K12GT I'm using Metzeler Z8, the R1150RT sneakers round on Mich PR3 & 4 in combo, the Naked K12 wears gummy Pirelli Diablo Rosso, the K12RS is on Shinko Verge 02 as an experiment, and back home on the K100RS I'm on Michelin PR2 from previously successfully using Conti Road Attack 2 on three spoke K11 wheels. I love the Pirelli Sport Demon bias ply for five spoke (not correctly called a Snowflake, those are on Airheads) wheels.

My wife and I biked fully loaded on a 2002 R1150RS from Vancouver to Toronto through Canada, down to Key West and back through the US.  I bought new Metzelers and had them balanced via injection of some substance (can't remember the name) for about $50.  After 18,000 km up to 100mph, and never adding any air, the tires looked about 1/2 worn (really), which I think is spectacular.  Go Metzeler !

Oh, yes, and I added a total of  1 liter of Motul. Go Beemer (and maybe Motul).

I would vouch for the PR's on the K also. Good mileage front and rear and good grip, wet and dry.
Different mileage can be down to the road surface in different parts of the world, too.
If anyone has ever been to Scotland they'll tell you that the surface gives great grip, but it eats tyres.

Am I the only one who prefers Avon RoadRiders? I haven't quite scraped the footpegs yet but I have removed a few layers of rubber from my boot soles. Oh yes - and they last well too. Approx 7000 miles to the rear and 9000 to the front.

Avons'q quality are spotty. I had Avon Roadriders on my bike before the Bridgestones. Those tires prematurely cracked in the tread valleys, and I had a chunk of the front tire start to separate from the carcass. That was prompted me to change them. They only had 2500-3000 kilometers on them maximum and there was plenty of tread depth left. I loved their wet weather handling though.

thanks a lot for all of the advice. and banter.
I do have to admit that I have  my rear tyre a bit hard too cant recall, 42 or 45psi off the top of my bald spot.
Let alone the roads here in Taranaki are effing terrible lately.
might as well ride through Siberia, not that I have , I do watch a lot of crap on utube though.
I will start looking around for prices etc based on the info given.
I have 3 months to sort the dilemma as will be off the road for demerrits damnit
