Footrest springs....help........... 78846
Hi everyone.

I've removed the footrest plates from the frame and dismantled the footpegs.
I am having some issues installing the spring for the right footrest, the side which has the attachment for the rear brake.
I don't think I've swapped the springs..not even certain if the springs are interchangeable but I can't see how that right spring can fit..
I can't be that stupid...all comments and photos will be appreciated...

Cheers
Gabriel

Realoem says there's a left and right front footpeg spring.

The footpeg design changed at some point too. There was a thread here recently where that was discussed.

There are different foot plates so this may be different to what you have but the spring (#15) slips onto the bushing (#16) which goes onto the pin (#14) when inserted thru the bracket. With the collar of the bush facing down, the spring arms should point up. The shorter arm to the rear sits against the plate while the longer bent arm points forward and sits against the back of the footpeg.
While I have your attention gabriel... could you check you PMs. I sent you a message a couple of weeks back and looks like they haven't been opened. Any Qs just PM me. Cheers

The only way I can install the spring is with the shorter end resting against the footplate but the end of the spring rests against the footplate...it doesn't slot into the indentation? It rests against the footplate in the corner near the upper hole..
Apologies for the lousy explanation...
If only I could post a photo.
The diagram that was posted is for the left footplate..that one was ok....
Cheers

can be hard to assemble them properly gabriel   that bloomin tension on the spring and the plastic former - spacer can be difficult to get in the right place to insert the pin

keep at it .

Maybe you have 2 left springs.

With the arms pointing up, it can only go 2 ways on the bush. Pick the orientation that works best.
I just had a look at mine. My left plate has an indentation for the spring arm but the right plate doesn't and the bent arm just sits against the side of the plate... which is different to the left side.
Either way as long as you get tension on the peg to push it down, you're good.

That's an interesting observation.....there's a slot for the spring on the left plate and none on the right.
There was no issue with my foot pegs prior to dismantling them and I should have made the effort to remember the positioning of the spring.
I am using an iPad and don't know how to post photos..
I have reattached the footpeg and the end of the spring is resting against the footplate....
I have triple checked everything and I am convinced I have not swapped any parts...I don't believe it would be possible for the end of that spring to be lowered into the indentation..
I would be interested to hear from others who own an early model k100.
Thank you for your response
Cheers
