Howdy All.
Recently acquired my first Beemer: 1992 K100RS 4 valve with 136k miles on her. Never wanted one because they "sound funny", but this seemed like a reasonable deal for a bike with a solid reputation and hard bags, as I use it primarily for commuting.
I'm not a joiner, either, but I've been approached by enough owners who were not with their respective bikes at the time that I thought I'd see what a forum like this is all about.
Incidentally, I had been following a thread about whether or not an "older" k100 still "has it", particularly with 136k on her. After having come to know each other fairly well, I took her to 100mph @ +/- 5900 rpm. I'm guessing she would have moved up to 110 if I pushed, and 120 if I insisted, but I have no desire to do either. I can assure you that she still has it.
