With many thanks to its originator, I'm intending to carry out this mod on my K100 front brake lines: http://classickbikes.com/ckb.tech/0.ckb.tech.files/2vbrakes/2vbrakes.htm
I've ordered all the parts, but there is just one thing bothering me.  Will the metal brake line that goes between the calipers be OK without a fork brace to reduce flex? (yes, I'm paranoid).

Pre-'87 models didn't use much a fork brace between the legs with the one-piece front mudguard. There will be minimal flex to the point of non-existence of the need to be concerned.
