The seat, rear cowl, and tank lines are very hard to get right. You have done a masterful job with them. The seat is one that I would actually like to sit on. Very nicely done!

Nice work, Busas.
That's a nice, clean design. Love the exhaust. One of the best ideas I've seen on a K100 cafe racer.
Think I need to buy a welder...
I've just started on a project K100 myself and have picked up a few ideas from your bike.
Mine still has the radiator cowling. Hard to find now and I think it looks so much better with it.
What colour is it? Hard to tell in the sunlight. Don't get too much here.
I've just started the strip down but find yours very inspiring.

Nice K, well done....on some of the pictures it looks like the fuel cap is mounted
the wrong way around.....the hinge should be at the rear end of the cap.
If so, you're blocking the water drain around the fuel cap...it's a cutout in
the fuel cap flange (and gasket) which must correspond with the drain tube
inlet in the mounting flange on the tank.

Curious how you made the seat template, do you have some pictures in the process to make it? Thanks

Hi Pedro.
Have progressed a bit further with the strip down. Weather here has been cool but sunny and getting a few miles on the GS.
I think I have been hesitant about going further until I have a clearer idea what I want and I keep coming back to your design.
Think its closest to what I want and, having the radiator cowl, I think I'm going go for something similar in style.
Don't have your fabrication skills or workshop, but going to use it as a template.
A question that maybe someone can answer.
Like many customs, the rear frame loop has been cut. Is it essential for rigidity and safety, to weld in a new brace?
Incidentally, Bert has set up a new section for Kustom K's. So if we can keep any new threads together on it, it'll be a great resource for the future.

The rear frame loop is there to stop your bum dragging on the ground. Reasoning as follows:
1. BMW have seen fit to build the frame with one size tube and then welded a narrower bit in.
2. Guzzi and many other bikes don't have a rear loop and nor do they have a cross member at that point.
3. It's not there to help control the engine in the frame because the engine is a stressed member in a triangulated cradle.
4. The only thing it might be there for is to transfer the movement of the rear shock to the other side of the frame. And to hang things off.
If it really worries you, there's no reason why you couldn't weld a crossmember in further along.
[Edit] Having had a good look at a frame, (4) doesn't count except for the 'hang bits off' bit. The shock absorber is pushing directly into a main triangle and the forces will be absorbed/transferred through the gearbox mountings.

One of the Nicest, if not THE nicest Cafe conversion I've seen. Most efforts get the tail piece wrong. That and the exhaust make it. The front end mods are very subtle and it still looks like a K not a wannabe R. Bravo Busas !

Think one of the most appealing things about Pedro's café racer is that it's not that far away from an original brick.
Apart from the seat, the exhaust, the paint, the headlight area, .... Well, you know what I mean.
No disrespect to Pedro, he has done a great job with some smart ideas and the detail is spot on.
What I'm trying to say is that even someone like myself who has done little metal fabricating for over 40 years (GCE 'O' level Metalwork, ahem.) can see themselves building something INTERESTING and DIFFERENT!
So many new bikes are fast, efficient, reliable but boring. Says the man who has a GS!
Just thought I would say it before anyone else.
But it's nice to get your hands dirty and, hopefully, end up with something unique and will be fun to take out next year.
Still enjoy the GS, though. It's a hoot to ride on the roads here.

Thanks 4 the words,
In fact one of the priority was keep the K identity...and that it was achieved...of course the the front grid of radiator cover helps alot, and thats why I pic up these model in mint condition...the naked & original K version ok this master piece.
the ride is superb....and with only 11.000 miles everything works properly...
It,s amazing out this beauty can feed my hapiness, avoiding last decade of HP giants like the 5 hayabusas, 2 zzr1400 and a couple of 1000cc RR speed weapons
Love my Brick
Cheers
