I want to replace my coolant overflow tank and move it up close to the down tube on the right (behind airbox snorkel).
I've seen a few examples and was thinking of going with a 750mm steel sports bottle. Question is anyone got any ideas for connecting the hose? Obviously I'm going to have to drill a hole at the bottom, but after that how to connect hose? Thanks in advance.

The ideal is if you have a spigot or short stub protruding from the new coolant tank that will accept the connecting hose from the radiator. You just may be able to get someone to do some welding but I would think either stainless steel or plastic may work and even better if you could use a stock item from some other manufacturer.

You will need a spigot or short length of pipe protruding from the bottom of the new 'tank' of the same dimensions as the one on your K coolant bottle. I imagine a sports bottle is too thin to be welded.......but maybe some other motorcycle coolant expansion tank?

Should be easy, you will find that in any country in a homedepot/construction market.

If the bottle is made of aluminium you could drill a hole to take a short piece of alloy tube and "solder" it in yourself with Lumi-weld. It can be done with some care and a blow lamp. Try it on some scrap first.

Here's a practical example.

The very thing.  What would you call them?  What they used for?

# Hello eire1400, sorry I don't know the name even in German :-) I used to describe what I want.

We use it to catch rain in a barrel and I use it for my drinking bottle on long journeys with my bicycle on the top is a holle and at the bottom a kind of drinking straw.

What I googled was "tube to bottle" something like that, I'm sure you find better English words :-)

And in the end, a good German or Irish beer barrel hast the same function!

Cheers

If you can't find one of those fittings, you could use a tyre valve without the insert.

Paul.

# Yes Olaf,
learned a lot in Ireland and I enjoyed very friendly people and girls :-)

Cheers

I was thinking of a very easy other way, to connect a tube
A screw with a hole, you could even use the parts from the braking system, if you have left.

Thanks for the excellent suggestions folks. I'm thinking similar to the gold bottle in Espresso  6th post might be easiest way around it!
