maybe this is a normal lifter noise

Sounds to me like one of the lifters is sticking down then springing back and clicking against the cam.
I would be taking the cam cover off and pushing each lifter down to see if it sticks. Possibly a bent valve stem but more likely to be a foreign object between the lifter and the bore it works in.

Might be a long shot but cheap and easy to check.
I looked at a 16v RS with a view to buy at a good price. It was cheap because of the clicking noise from the cylinder head. Driving fine otherwise.
Turned out one of the plug caps wasn't properly seated and the clicking noise was the arcing of the spark. Unfortunately, it was the owner who worked it out and the price went up!
