good afternoon all...
I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on what to use to replace the rubber handle bar mounts as my bars seem to have developed a very distinctive clonk when I go over a bump and on inspection I found that the small runner mounts are very worm and that's allowing the bars to strike the mount when I go over a bump....I had seen somewhere about using rubber hose pipe sections but wasn't sure wether this was feasible or just a hair brained idea....and when I enquirered about replacements for said rubber I decided that I would try and find an alternative and maybe something that would make the bar travel less too.....
It's the 2 tines that are underneath the dash pad that go through the metal bracket that seem to be making the noise so these are what I need to replace and not the rubber mounts in the top yoke.

That is what you get if you order the OEM part.

Could also be a good idea to change out the rubbers in the upper triple clamp.

I used some tapered shock absorber bushes for my K100 like this

Some here have used some extra washers to make things a bit tighter but make sure the hole is big enough for the shank of the bolt not just the threaded part.

Part 4 is what I was referring to...but as already been sung geared I may well just replace part 5 as well then both have been done.....
So just some rubber hose obviously the right bore would sort out as replacement for part 4 then? If so then I shall have to hunt some out

I realize that #4 was the main offending part but as you had said about that and then addad "Could also be a good idea to change out the rubbers in the upper triple clamp."  I was adding to that because I could not get them when I wanted some and I used the shock rubbers.

For the tines, I used some garden hose on my K1100LT.

At just $12.78 USD a piece and readily available it makes sense to cough up the approximately fifty skins for the real thing, unless you're prone to necessity as the mother of invention, reinvention due to circumstances or distance from suppliers. OEM part number 32 71 2 307 364 (number 5, the main mount, that is. It was difficult to glean that from the first poster's statement).

Can be tough to get the old ones out. Here's what I use, a 1/4" socket extension and some Vise-Grips to pull them up and out.
