I sold a lovely K100 Basic this week Crying or Very sad because I needed to thin out the herd. I hate selling nice bikes but recent retirement means that a change of lifestyle will be upon me.
Another change was the bike I keep out in Spain, again another beauty, is due for a change for boredom's sake.
Here the two bikes are in Spain toe to toe.

I now have a problem-no bike out in Espaniol.
I saw this lovely K1200RS for sale and thought it would fit the bill nicely.

One owner from new, 16K miles and unmarked. Due to the crap weather I didn't get to ride it today so can't say if it will suit but it will be fun finding out. If I like it I'll ride it over to Spain later this year.
.....watch this space.

I'm jealous Mike! I nearly bought one of those off Gumtree here in Oz for AU$3000. I hesitated and in the morning it was gone.
They are a very nice bike.
What year is it?

It was registered in February 2004.

Here are some better images.

I can only find two things wrong and I'm being super critical. There is a hairline scratch on the front mudguard and a little corrosion on the gearbox casing where it meets the engine....and that's it. As near to new as You'll get. Very Happy

I can't help but notice the size of your bike shed in Spain.......don't see any pressure to thin out the Kollection!

That's a really nice RS too, an excellent find.

Unfortunately that's the underground car park.
If I had that kind of space I'd never sell anything ever again.  OOps! look what fell out of the back of my van this afternoon. 723598

Weather OK here today so I'll get to road test it this afternoon.

I did figure it was....but lots of dead bike spaces. I lived with one of those car parks and one of my neighbours had a collection of what looked to others to be a lot of scrap bikes but in fact were mint dust covered CBXs. I struggled with that one.

Nice day here too and about to try out the helmet. I only get about 300 miles on a bad week. Getting to near 5k miles on tyres I put on at end of October.

You've seen the pictures and I think it was obvious that I was excited about the K12RS.
I gave it a good clean and waited for my wife to get back home. FINALLY she arrives. Off we go and I've got earache within half a mile "I don't like it, the seat's slippy" I shout back to give it a chance.
We get to the first hill, lots of arse wriggling later, give it some throttle and the bike shudders then the revs rise. Fuck! The clutch is slipping which I try to ignore as the ride goes on thinking that it will get better with a few miles, after all it's been stood a while. It doesn't stop and we need to do a food shop so while I'm alone outside the shop I call the guy I bought the bike from yesterday and he's in denial but on the back foot which is not entirely unexpected but I'm positive he knew.

A stiff email later and he's agreed to take the bike back and give a full refund but we'll see....and that's the last time I'll touch a K1200. Crying or Very sad

Ouch!

I can recall hearing somewhere that it is best to avoid any K bike that has a 2, 3, or 6 in the model number.  I was following your posts on this thread and hoping for the best for you, but it appears you can't fool fate.  At least the seller has made good by you.

Ouch indeed.
My experience with the across the frame K's, a 1200R and a 1300R have been faultless and enjoyable.
Just bad luck I guess.

Shoot me if you like but with the failure of the shaft on my R1200R and this KRS latest setback, I'm considering buying a Honda to take out to Spain. I need 110% reliability out there as the workshop is back in the UK.

Looking at a late model VFR800F-with chain drive this time.
This is a huge step for me as I currently own 7 BMW's and have done exclusively since 2004.

Good choice............I won't hold you to the 1st Commandment with 7 other Beemers in the garage LOL

Here in the States you can find a lot more low mileage VFR's than BMW's. Seems the VFR riders on average ride less miles and you can buy a lot of bike for not a bunch of money on the used market.

Keep a spare voltage regulator with you.  They have been said to be a weak point.  Otherwise, a very nice ride.

I bought my fist new BMW bike in 1977 and have had them ever since - till a few years ago. The best one that I owned was a new 2004 K1200GT, the last of the brick engines.
I now have 3 Ducatis and a K100 in the garage, would never buy a new BMW again, they don't make them like they used to.
