Hi everyone, 

its now almost 30 years ago that I was riding a bike and it happened to be a (a lent) K100RS that time. After other things that I had to concentrate on in the meantime (kids, house, job) I am now in the position, where I can concentrate again on bikes. 

Living in Germany and being an BMW fan (and a K fan) from the first minute, there was already some time the idea in my mind to buy a K100 and restore and modify it. Although the K100 is not the best basis to build a cafe racer, this is what I am about to do. 

About two weeks ago I accidentally saw a K100 to be sold on eBay. The owner happened to be not far away from my hometown. So there it is: A 1984 K100RS basis for my cafe racer project. Lets see how far I can get. 

Being a german, my K100 homebase in the internet is of course the flyingbrick.de forum. But I also like to learn from the international K100 community.

Welcome to the forum.

There are quite a few threads about K100 café racers and I think you might be surprised how good some of them are. While not everyone will feel you should be turning a perfectly good RS into a café racer....that depends on how good your 1984 RS is. Either way everyone will have lots of helpful advice and of course will want to see how it is going, photographs etc.

Welcome Rainier.  It's good to see riders who can participate in both K-bike forums.  I sure wish I remembered my German from classes so long ago  
What part of Germany do you call home?

I'm living in the center of germany, near Frankfurt (on Main). My hometown is actually situated in the "Odenwald" which is a low mountain range, that provides lots of opportunities for great rides (can't wait until next year, when its getting warmer again and the project bike is ready to ride )

You will certainly find that we have a lot of common members on both forums. The great thing is that information is shared and translated in many languages.
I travel at least once a year from Frankfurt to Metz(Frankreich) and I certainly pass close to your town.
