Mike P passed away at a time in my life which was testing in the financial sense.

No registration, tyres only just legal and no dough, what do I do?

It was a Saturday, I recall, and I whiled away a few hours cleaning the mini brick esp the rims,

cam cover and crank cover, I thought of all you perfectionists on this forum... Mike was one.

Next day I read the sad news that Mike had died.

Today I dedicated my ride to Mike ...... rego, Pirelli Sport D's both ends brand spanking,

9am start and after 3 months of no riding I was, unusually, "in the groove" almost immediately,

new boots will do that.... but I think it was more than that.

A little milestone came up towards the end of the 300km day

Mike P ride 2014-110

It was a pleasure to know you Mike.

Its a lovely day here, sun shining and a perfect day for a K ride. I loved Mike P posts too and I hope he is now riding an uber reliable K. We had a nice day and ride yesterday and I remember the comment when we irish Eccentrics first met that we should enjoy the day because tomorrow may not come.

Its a good day to remember those who are with us in spirit because they leave an important part of themselves with us.

Thanks for the lovely thoughts Ghost.

A nice way to celebrate being back on the road Ghost. Onya!

Mike P was a great contributor to the forum and inspired Lowly souls like myself to do better in our efforts to renew replace and restore. Gone but not forgotten!

Sad to read this, Mike was a genuine bloke and a passionate 'K' man. No-one I know of did a restoration as well as he did and he was generous with his knowledge.  You could have eaten your dinner off his bike!

Is there another thread? I have been away from this forum a while but if there is a whip round for his family or another way to pay our respects I'd like to.

Cheers
Dave

It was a very sad occasion when Mike passed away. He was a true inspiration to all here and I dare say to all who met him.
I was thinking of an award of some sort for excellence in restoration of a K. Something to think about.

I think that a token of admiration and respect from the forum would be appreciated by anyone next of Kin. I have an idea for something hopefully tasteful to all, leave it with me and I'll PM a few members. Then we have to figure out how to get in touch with them.

Will
