The standard measure of the kilogram, 'Le Grand K', has been retired due to an unexplained weight loss. As K motorcyclists we've come to expect that 1000cc is really 987cc, but in the world of Weights and Measures, accuracy is taken very seriously.

Since 1889 (125 years), "le grand K" has lost .0005% of its weight. (too much cleaning I guess)
When designing the K100, the German engineers anticipated a very long life for the bike and this is why they only bored the cylinders to 987cc.
If the wearing of the k100 cylinder walls is proportional to the lost of weight of "le grand K", in 26,000 years the K100 will become the new standard for the international system as it will be exactly 1,000cc.
