Sorry to start another thread on the 2853 acewell but the others are quite old with past members no longer being on etc.

Green black (6) is supposed to be power 12v correct on the gauge connector. I'm not getting any reading. Any ideas?

I've checked the fuses.. I figure there is something simple when you are in the know:0

Brakelight is in the same circuit, does it function?.....with the ignition switched on.

Check the fuses with a meter not just a visual check. Those blade type have a habit of going open circuit and still looking OK.  I have been caught in the past and others I know also have so it's always worth a check.

To get power to fuse #1 also the kill switch must be in the on position.

Well this is embarrassing..... Thanks Inge;)

So now that problem is sorted. I'm onto the relays. Also going with led indicators so have to install resistors in the line.

Still headaches! I've wired up my relays into a neat little box.

The indicators work and the high beam work.
Oil light works
Neutral light does work but STAYS ON through all gears:/
I've done the fuel relays as well but not a huge deal if it's not working yet....

So purple goes to relay 4. 30 position. This is the neutral light. Any ideas why this might stay on?

As an explanation to the rest I've put
Orange - 19
Light green - 15
Grey - 11
White - 17
Black - 13
Brown - 1
Blue - 7
Not worrying about hazard so have done nothing with light blue

About neutral always on, I would guess that you have done something wrong
when wiring the relays.
But a shorted clutch switch and a incorrect mounted diode also can cause this.

About Blue - 7, this is for a fuel level indicator on the Acewell, on your -84 you
don't have a fuel level sensor......

I think you may be right Inge. Tell me, on the 4 relay schematic that is floating around about this, the top diamond says switched power 12v+.

I've connected all 4 wires (the 3 86's from the first 3 relays) to the 30 from the first relay and hooked that all up to green/black at pin 5.

Is that right?

30 on the fourth relay should be connected to purple wire to the Acewell.
86 on the fourth relay should be connected to 87 on the third relay before the diode.
85 and 87 on the fourth relay should be connected to ground.

I haven't put the diode in... that could be my mistake:/

Can you look at the first photo Inge and tell me if the rest looks right to you?

The designation codes which is written with a pen is wrong.

1 = 86
6 = 85
7 = 87
12 = 30

Is it mechanical or solid state relays? Solid state won't function.

Ahhh Thanks. Mechanical I assume. I hear it clicking when I hook things up so I assume it's working?!

Very annoying. The numbers were written in by the guy at Jaycar so probably shouldn't base everything on the assumption that he knew what he was talking about! EVERY one wrong .. haha unbelievable

Thanks again Inge:)

It should be connected to the black/green at pin 6.

At pin 5 it shouldn't be any power unless neutral is selected or clutch pulled
(or connection to clutch switch shorted).

The only difference it would make is that your neutral light would be on every
time you pull the clutch. (if the clutch switch still is present, of course).

The terminal designations used is the german DIN standard used on (most)
European vehicles, I would guess that they isn't so familiar with that on Jaycar.

Yeeha. We have neutral!!!

Now I've put the 86's to pin 6 as you said.

I thought the black/green to start button was pin 6 so it goes to pin 5 correct?

Hmmm........probably to much Tuborg green for this evening Beer drinker .
You was correct with the colour code, but wrong pin #.

Pin 5 = black/green to start button/clutch switch.
Pin 6 = green/black, switched power.

So now that problem is sorted. I'm onto the relays. Also going with led indicators so have to install resistors in the line.

Instead of using resistors for the led indicators (they get hot and you have to find somewhere to mount them)
Open up the relay and cut pin 7 on the chip or use a knife and cut the track on the circuit board to break the connection.

Yep and now it works like a dream. Diode installed and everything. Going to box up my little unit and get my tank back in.

Thank you for all the help. I haven't had much luck with the fuel meter by the looks of it, but still stoked with the results so far. Thanks Inge
