Hey all, as you know I'm a noob here. I want to shed as much weight as possible before BSK take money off me for cams and things. And I like the look of the beast without that big air box. I've looked all over the tinterweb and I cant find a simple how-to on fitting a big KN type pod filter.

Anyone know where I can find a tutorial or useful info on doing this job. Pretty sure you lads are sick of this question but sorry, I had to ask.

Mossy has done it if you find his build thread it's in there. Breathing will not improve with a K&N filter, the OEM filter does flow far more air than can get through the MAF sensor, a hell of a lot more and they are a better filter.

you might have to fashion up an adaptor

but the plate at the front of the afm doesn't match ....but a plate could be built to adapt both parts as the hole centres don't quite line up

I made my own adapter from the original intake.
Just roll 60mm external ally tube and weld centre line up to make pipe. Shape end of pipe to fit original ally.
Weld together.

Also I shortened the 90degree large hose from bosh unit to injector collector box.

I was toying with the idea of turning the second airbox(injector) around 180degree and pointing the airfilter forward on the left side of bike instead of backwards on the right.

One would assume you could even turn the original one around if you didn't want to make a ally replacement.

Cool im to k100 virginal to have the technical terms.
Im trying to work out if the filter is in the road a bit where it is.
If I want to grip the tank or lean off cornering idd need move it.
If I wanted to run it in the pre89 race class on the track idd move it.

Thanx folks, good to know its relatively easy. As I'm a cnc machinist I don't see there being a problem in making up the bits I need for the job.

Cool. I have seen some. Not sure if my set up will get in the road. It feels like it only would if I was racing the bike on the track and had gone full steam race with 17inch wheels and race rubber.

I see problems turning it around

the plenum is shaped  with a slight fall front to rear ...as it stands the rear is the hardest part to get into position .....that is unless you can drop the engine away from the frame slightly till fitted up ...I haven't tried it yet but was sorely tested a couple of days ago ....
just a thought

I will attempt to change things ...remoulding the outer in due corse to see what I can achieve ...hoping to make the intake section to the rear of the plenum not the front ...where it interferes with the radiator fan and a few other things ....and all too close to the radiator .
