Hi everybody, I've been lurking for a while but I'm still around.
A question, whats the weight of a K100 engine including fluids, alternator and starter? I'm considering a new hull for my craft(we call it TNC, the next craft),this one will be more for comfort than speed Very Happy . To get the balance correct a few calculations must be made weight being on one of the important ones. If the K is too heavy I may have to consider an R1100 but would prefer the quieter watercooled 4banger.

I shipped a K100 engine and gearbox complete on a wooden pallet from somewhere to back home and the total weight was about 100kg.  Factoring the weight of the pallet and the gearbox, which I could lift by myself once I separated the two, I would estimate the engine weighing about 70kg.

The engine had the air box and fuel manifolds fitted, so was complete but minus fluids for transportation.  The radiator was removed.  Hope this helps.

70kg seems about right. probably around 75 with rad and fluids.  We need to get the engine position correct for G of G and C of Cushion calculations.

Coolant and oil are 8 litres and 8 kilos. Radiator and fan at least 2 kilo more.

Sad, sad Sad Sad After 5 years of K fun I'm leaving as I've sold my craft to a guy that lives on an island just off the Sligo coast. He intends to use it to bring his daughter to school every day.
However I'm not totally out as TNC(The Next Craft) will probably have an R1100 Embarassed  in it.  Another K has not been ruled out but I happened to have the R in the shed for a few years. Also there's a slim chance TNC will have a K75 as a lift engine.
It would be nice to have a K1100 for thrust and a K75 for lift,,, mmm a 7 cylinder BMW Very Happy Very Happy
