RIP Bikey

DOB
22/09/1989

DOR (date of retirement)
26/09/2014

Unfortunately after a rather serious clutch issue Bikey has been placed in retirement. He was my everything, together we scaled mountains, crossed rivers and got lost. Over 50000 miles together in four years, the one force that could be relied upon to keep my safe and always be at my side. He was everything a girl could desire, strong, handsome, vibrates perfectly around 4000 revs, reliable and fun. I will never forget how you got me around Germany safely and have supported me through the darkest moments in my life. Although for the time being your body will be committed to the retirement shed to join Red and Henry you will never be forgotten and will always ride in my heart. One day we will ride again my big beautiful BMW

Love you Bikey

(and yes i did cry typing this!)

He will be repaired eventually, I love him too much to let him die but on Friday I pick up his replacement, a Yamaha FJR1300....

"If a man promiss to make a shed, he will. Really.
You don't have to remind him every 6 months on that."

Oh dear...... Rolling Eyes

edit; We got fooled by the "RIP" in the opening post.....

Hey becky,

That's happen to us too. Sometimes we have health problems or a small accident and have to spend time in an intermediate care facility until a good surgeon is available to fix the problem.
Your shed will be this facility and the surgeon will be able to do his magic on site.
Honestly, any good mechanic should be able to do the job in less than one day. Even if he doesn't have any experience of the k bike, we have enough documentation about the procedure on this forum.

Tip of the day: Organize a big BBQ and invite the K riders in your area. They will have the job completed before the supper is served. You don't think so?..... Try it

Speedy recovery to Bikey.

CF

hmmmm.... sounds like a forum workshop day for sure .
as Bert says , it may sound a big job for you Becky, but with a few more forum members by your side , Bikey will be moving again .
I'd even say that Rosskko could be swayed , if the flights were right.
just promise him skones ......
we've all enjoyed your pics and reports so far , and keen to share a few more, good luck with it in the future .

You have to organise a workshop day!

The guys in Australia do them and they seem to be as much fun as was our trip up north last weekend. We read about how they make and bring sKones, jams, breads, tea and go hunting [not sure if that's for game or women, but you can tell your Dad the Irish guys hunt women]. Sure is enough technical knowledge around to do the job, all we need is the excuse and the invite! We can build sheds too. Maybe mention to your Dad that there's a bunch of the Irish guys coming over to build the shed if he doesn't get on with it. That should spur him on. Means Bikey will ride again......All we need is a good camp site and somewhere near to graze the horses as we each have 90 of them.

This was 88KE's K100LT at 7.30am on the morning we went to France: [Isn't it looking lovely in the early morning sunshine!]

In case you think its just fun this was 88KE's K100LT at 4.30am the same morning.... Obituary Img_0210

Check out the rear suspension on the FJR. The bearings in the linkage need to be greased, and if they are neglected can seize and cause the linkage to break. Google it, it's a known problem.

The FJR has only done 23000, 100000 less than bikey! He's spotless, had my dad's mate look it over (he has one he's had from New and it's done 108000 so he knows what he's looking for!) and was pretty impressed! Pick him up tomorrow, so excited but also sad about bikey Sad

Once a brick always a brick and since you are keeping Bikey in your shed you are still one of us so we hope you will syay with us! We had one or two non K bikes at the weekend and their owners add to the fun of our meet up as much as anyone.

So hope you still make it over in the summer.

Hey guys, no pictures over the weekend because we were both not on them (plus i was ill, k withdrawal i think). Ive had a week with the new guy (FJR1300), the power is fun but we havnt really bonded. Bikey has his quirks, wheras the new one just seems like anyone could ride him. Did take me a while to properly take to bikey though i guess! Hes not a K but it is quite nice being able to ride along, smell burning or hot metal and not worry if its mine! Will definitely get bikey back on the road though, i miss him. Still have his keys on my house keyring!

The forum is not quite the same without the weekly Becky Bikey report. Somehow Bikey has to go back on the road and a clutch is not the end of the world for him we hope. ......

So, a plan is needed.....

If you win that one you have to buy everyone on the forum another K!!! That's just over 3,000ks. Well within the budget. Then you can go anywhere inn the world and be able to borrow a K!!!!
