Hi all from the Emerald Isle
Eddie here from Dublin and delighted to join the K100 community.
I just purchased a 1985 K100RT .Its my second such machine having owned one over 20 years ago. I also have a 1994 K1100RS / EML sidecar outfit which is currently off the road needing slight repairs, all in good time.
My reason for joining is simple. Its good to be part of an international group of like minded persons sharing a common interest, and I desperately need any help I can get with the notorious odometer failure on my machine.
The bike by the way is 1985 with only 16500miles recorded. The odometer was working when I got it so I believe the mileage to be genuine as the bike was stored for over 23 years unused. I have tried all the remedies available on line.I have dismantled the instrument pod, cleaned all the electric pins, twisted them slightly to ensure a better connectivity, used metallic grease on the connections, checked the plastic gear wheels and all seem to be in tact and free to move. Im baffled at this stage and would welcome any advice on where to go from here. I should add that the speedo is working fine.
My bike has been custom painted and is rather unique. The paint job was done by special order before the bike left the dealers showroom in the UK. I bought the bike from the UK.
I know many of you, (probably all of you ) have had problems with the instruments so I am optimistc that someone out there has a solution for me
Lets hear from you
Kindest regards from a warm and unusually dry Dublin
