I have come to the conclusion that there are two types of riders.
One is those who ride a BMW and the another is those who wish they did.

The only reason I'm riding a K100 is that it was available at a reasonable price at the time of purchase.

I reeeeaaallllyyyy wanted a Guzzi, but there were none around at the time. Same with a Ducati.

So I am not really a BMW rider, but more of a motorcyclist who is riding a BMW at the moment.

...and putting up with the nonsense coming from you lot! Razz

I don't give a rat's ass what other people ride - as long as they don't run into me and take me out - that's all I care about.

As a lad I wanted to ride so much it hurt. I read every magazine. I drooled in every showroom. I watched every bike that passed by. I skipped (almost) every class so I could ride. I had some HonYamSukiKwackas. Then I bought a secondhand Beemer. It did what I needed it to. I bought another. Then another. I got intimate with their quirks. They have plenty of those. I don't begrudge another's choice of ride; two wheels better.

I believe that this story is correct.
A group of very rough, leather jacketed, bikies riding Harleys arrived at the pearly gates and was greeted by Saint Peter, who was not impressed. Saint Peter went off to God (the two of them were of course BMW riders) and sounded his concern. God counselled St Peter and informed him that they were of the flock of motorcyclists and not to show prejudice.
St Peter went back to the pearly gates, but soon came running to God...."they're gone, they're gone!"
"What....the bikies?" asked God.
"No........the pearly gates!"

Likewise........but 2227 posts is a lot of putting up with us.....That's what I love about the forum, a good sense of humour.

The K100 ticked a lot of boxes for me, but having to be on a BMW wasn't one of my boxes. The K just suited me. Having got one I found that one couldn't meet nicer guys and people do stop to talk to you. When the LT was damaged the idea of a different bike did not sit with me at all, so I got the RT.

And the second K100 in your garage just turned up by itself ???? A bit like a stray cat perhaps that found a new home.

Since finding this forum two more 75s have found new homes and there is a 75C that will soon join the tribe.  scratch

I think I need to look in the dictionary and see what the word contraception means.

Therefore, the translation of K100 to normal people is K4.

K1100 is K12.

K1200 is a figment of someone's imagination.

The K1 alone doesn't need translation.

My tastes for BMW start and stop at the brick type K-series.  I liked my much modded R80GS too.  There are others I've owned and liked for the ride but the legendary "reliability" bit me in the wallet too many times too consider any new type BMW again.  Don't care how well they might ride, I won't own one again. BMW seem to rely on the owners to find too many of the problems.

So I'll stick to my old Ks and any new bikes will most likely be Yamahas.
