This may not be for the "Where's 6th gear?" club but, having put lots of miles on various K bikes over the years, I've learned that RPMs are your friend, not your enemy.
I'm sure I'm not the first to have done this but IMHO it does give a noticeable roll-on torque improvement that I like. Mathwise, a K75 32:10 FD has 13.5% "shorter" gearing than the stock 31:11 FD of an RS. And, since the RPMs for a given speed are further up the power curve, there's even a bit more. Butt-dyno reports that it has noticeably more 5th gear roll-on then a K1100RS.
RPM-wise, it runs in the low 5,000s when doing 70 MPH-ish on the freeway. I have this K100 pretty dialed in/sync'd with 18 oz Manic Salamander bad ends so, although there are some minor vibes, it's not very noticeable or hand-numbing.
Bottom line: Two thumbs up.
Potential downsides:
Lower gas mileage. Ask me if I care.
Increased engine wear: Not relevant on a K bike.
Maybe it'll burn oil a little faster. Non-issue to me.
