Well my ratty K100 RS passed her M O T this morning and found herself taxed and up the road half an hour later and 80 smiling miles later she returned home in fine fettle apart from a few problems to sort after a 5 year lay off.
Certainly needs the clutch sorting, new tires, radiator leak sorting and a replacement rear shock as the old one blew it's seals after 35 miles !!!!

Wonderful day and a wonderful surprise of a bike and defo a keeper.

Welcome to the forum and to the world of K bikes.

I bet the smile was radiant after that outing.

A few helpful suggestions. On the home page here there is a section on what to do if you just bought a K. Since yours was in  storage for 5 years that counts as new to you....

You can get the shock rebuilt I believe. I needed one recently but a spares bike solved that one.

The tyres, well it will be like its on rails when you do them. 5 year old tyres are not good, no matter how much tread remains.

Clutch, how is the cable? Only use the BMW cable, not the substitutes.

Getting radiator off also means taking off the petrol tank. You need to check the in tank petrol filter and it would be wise to replace the fuel hoses while you are there. Standard BMW is cheap, but make them slightly longer so you can lift the tank to access the relay box [and change the air filter too] and also pull it back to access the radiator cap without having to disconnect them.

When you have all those jobs done think about a short trip across the Irish Sea ..........we have a trip to Northern Ireland planned for September and the North Antrim Coast and the K are made for each other.

good to hear you got her back on the road mate .

happy riding when you can

seems all those rubber things (shock stem rubbers,  fuel lines , brake lines etc )  tend to suffer through the ages

good luck
