Sorry, too dark at the moment to take pictures, but will post soon.
Had a desire to find out if I still like bikes, have been an UN-Owner for 25 years.
Owned in the past a Honda 185 twin, A Kwaka 400 twin, A Suzuki GS750B (2nd 750b in Queensland), a real H2 Kwaka Widow maker, and a Suzuki GS1000G before I got sensible.
Getting older, and wanted something to do, that would take some time.
Also have a younger daughter about to get her license, so was going to give her my bomb for a year, so she could drive a proper car, and let her make her mistakes.
I would need something to get to the local train station though.
I then had an excuse to get a bike.
Went looking for what I wanted, and had a mate who once owned a R90s,,,, in 79.
Liked it at the time, and looked around at 90ses. Could not believe the price.
Looked at a R850r, and hated the riding position and the riding custard feeling.
Came home and told the family I may not be getting a bike afterall.
Did I need to mention the "middle age crisis" and Change of life" jokes started when I broached the subject to family. Well the being sensible statements came out then.
Was a bit put off by how I felt about riding the R850 but still felt I wanted to ride a bike like I used to,
and then this bike came up about 75klm away. K100 RS
Quoted as in good condition, and 60,000 Ks.
Went and had a look, and a ride, and thought not bad.
Hummed and Hahhed, and then finally thought for the price, I could not go much wrong.
Agreed to buy depending on the Safety Cert outcome, and then when that came in went to pick it up.
It would not start. Battery flat. It had started previously, but the owner said he had had problems and had to charge the battery. It was a Glass Gel battery. Got it started and rode it home.
So starts the saga of what is wrong, interspersed with good surprises.
Still not commuting or getting to the station on it.
Having a few rides, and remembering most times to watch the speedo.
Family is still not sure if age has fried the few functional synapses I have. :bom:
So here I am.
-o: By the way I talk too much....
