Young Warren had a problem. Seems his hose was split.
He ordered a new one (once again cheaper from UK than Sydney) and duly arrived at my house to install it.

Looks like the diagnosis was correct.



Lucky there happened to be a spare K just lying around with a nice pair of hose clamps as someone forgot to order theirs and the one use cable ties were not going back on.

So that was 10 minutes gone. Next?

Spline lube. Looks brand new.





Only issue was a small amount of oil on the final drive that did not extend up the swing arm. Seal?

And with the excitement of scones and jam and cream and tea and moly grease we forgot to check the oil level in the FD.

Good job boys. Let me know when you are doing that F/D seal, I have the same problem.

Let them leak a bit of oil slopping around there can only be good for the splines.
Now I cant remember where I read it but not very long ago (long after my pet dinosaur died) I read a bit about putting 150-200ml of gear oil in the swinging arm to lube the spline. First you need to clean the whole lot and make sure the bellows at the uni are in good condition.

This has nothing to do with anything, but I've been waiting for the cold weather to arrive to take her off the road and do some stuff. This has been the best riding weather ever and I can't bring myself to pull bits off. Ulrich and his mate just went for a 4 day jaunt, lucky sods.
Hey Rick G that's a good idea, I already swapped the F/D over, now I'll have a spare.

Now where were we, oh yeah Warren C, I put a new S hose on 3 years ago and it went belly up in Feb this year, not sure why that would happen.

good ol 16spline job like my 85
i had leaky pinion seal in my fd a few yrs ago and took the fd to dealer to install it.
they have the big $$ factory socket tool that fits the 4 slot piece in there.
only a 1/2 hr labor.
i read somewheres the a small leak is OK and lubes the splines too
