I have just swapped out all my light bulbs (except headlight) to LED and they look and work sensational. Problem though. The brake warning light on the instruments stays on. Regular bulbs must complete a circuit that LED do not. Any suggestions?

No idea why, but sounds like you've sorted your own problem, would the cluster look odd if you retained the filament bulb for the brake warning light.....?

Check out this guy's excellent advice on LED bulbs and the BMU:

His whole site is a mine of great information.

Thanks Cleverbee
I was hoping to hold that option for later. It is such a pain to get at I was hoping someone might suggest something easier. like cutting a wire or something

Does the bake warning light tell you when the scones are ready?

It's when the airfilter housing is hot enough to put the scones in.

At first I thought it meant Bakelite, until I read the thread...

Scones are ready at my house!

I have upgraded to all LED including the Brake Monitor bulb. Mine briefly lights when the brake is pressed. Something along the lines of a filament bulb cannot respond quickly enough to the small pulse of electricity but the LED can. With regards to your problem, is it possible that the brake light bulb may have failed or the Bulb Monitoring Unit? Don't forget to depress the brake pedal and handle. As already stated in other posts, my electrical expertise is limited at best and should probably be confined to changing the AA batteries in the TV remote. I am however a frequent victim of Murphy's law. If this was me the brake bulb will have burned out exactly when I made a modification, thus my inclination to starting with the simplest and cheapest option first.

Good luck with the baking!!

Is it possible to switch to LEDs and keep the BMU intact and functional?

Everything I've read to date indicates that with LEDs, the BMU must be disabled.

Regards

Works in mine. I just replaced the filament bulb with an LED and made no other changes. The only quirk is that the Bulb Monitor light will briefly and faintly flash when the brakes are applied. Only an issue at night and I find it oddly reassuring to know that the brake light has come on. Can't even see it during the day. There has been a suggestion, probably on Duck's page, that adding a resistor makes this quirk go away.

I personally don't need a warning light to know I'm baking...

I have removed the BMU and shorted the wires in the electronics box as per the link earlier in this thread.
All good. I will just manually check my lighting system. LED's should last for thousands of hours anyway.
