I watched this footage on FB earlier this evening, don't know how it all ended, plenty coppers waiting on him doing something stupid.

Question is this for all bikers in Aus or do they tend to target the HD boys.

This is insane.

Would I ever want to travel to Queensland and spend my 'tourist money' supporting this kind of government attitude? NO WAY.

I think your cops should start to ride kangaroos if they are so much against motorcycle riders. They will look good. Have you ever seen a kangaroo with blue flashing lights? Just imagine......  Very Happy

It's always difficult to know what the full circumstances are when someone uploads such a video. What we didn't see is what happened to cause the police to speak to the rider. We don't see any reason why so many coppers were in attendance but it's not really safe to assume that they're there mob-handed just because they had nothing better to do.

I've read that there's a particular problem with bike gangs in parts of Oz. We aren't talking about speeding and maybe running the odd red light. It's the same as we once had here in the UK with certain "social motorcycle clubs" that were organised crime groups. I reckon that's why there was some specific questions about "patches".

The idea behind the "anti bikie" laws is to run them out of town and make them go somewhere else.
I see this and knowing many of these guys over the years is that the cops only want them to go elsewhere because if they are arrested they will spill their guts and then a lot of cops that are involved in the crime with them will also go down.
In the legislation that is refered to by the media and Queensland politicians as "anti bikie" the only reference to anything that could be considered as "bikie" is the mention that "sergeant at arms" is considered to be a committee position within a club.

The attorny general in Queensland has sole discression as to weather an organization is to be considered illegal under this legislation and if he (an articled clerk in reality) wants to make the local fruit growers assoc an "illegal organization" then he can and there is NO recourse through the courts.
This legislation WILL be thrown out by the high court on the grounds that it is unconstitutional in that the seperation of powers is not adhered to.
In the meantime the police and government are doing what was done 40 years ago which is go down town on Saturday night and harrass the bikies because it looks like they are doing something and to justify the actions they are feeding the media horror stories about bikies.  There is some truth behind the copious quantities of bullshit the media is being fed.

As far as the Queensland government is concerned we have a democracy just so long as you do what we tell you to do.  The premier has already got the wrong side of the judiciary by trying to tell them what to do and when they told him not to interfer he promptly removed the power from them and gave it to the above mentioned attorney general which is contary to the seperation of powers in the constitution of Australia.

They don't call this the "deep north" for nothing

Come back Joh all is forgiven!

One biker and a few cops Qldpol10

hon·or
/ˈänər/
    noun
1
.

high respect; esteem.

2.
     a privilege.

verb
1.
regard with great respect.

2. fulfill (an obligation) or keep (an agreement).

"Honour or honor (from the Latin word honor) is an abstract concept entailing a perceived quality of worthiness and respectability that affects both the social standing and the self-evaluation of an individual or corporate body such as a family, school, regiment or nation. Accordingly, individuals (or corporate bodies) are assigned worth and stature based on the harmony of their actions with a specific code of honour, and the moral code of the society at large."

What has been happening in the state of Queensland for the past year or so under the name of 'VLAD' (Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Act) is embarrassing to the nation of Australia. It doesn't technically name bikies at all and could easily be used against any group to include a group of mates out for a drink, a family on holidays, a mob at a school sporting event, or even a cricket club on the grass. But everyone knows it's meant to 'control' the mean, rough, tough old bikies - some of whom actually are. But it's a broad brush stroke and being challenged as unconstitutional in the high court. Meantime, if you ride an H-D or any type of cruiser motorbike with loud pipes, or if you're wearing what look like 'colours', you'll be pulled over and questioned (harassed).

Here's an article about the video about the harassment published in a respected journal:

http://www.businessinsider.com.au/the-video-of-a-bike-rider-being-accosted-by-queensland-police-has-now-been-viewed-over-half-a-million-times-2014-1

As an aside, Beenleigh, where this took place, is my old neighbourhood. I'm hoping it's blown over by the time I return home, but I reckon it'll take some extraordinary rage from the people to change the apathy of the average voter in Australia. Most people outside of OZ have the impression people there are rough as guts and will stand up for their rights, heads held high. But laws get passed and enforced with hardly a whisper of public input. In truth OZ has fast become a nation of ordinary folk standing round, head down, cap in hand, taking the rough end of the pineapple by those in charge. Campbell Newman, the Premier of the state (like a governor), and his ilk should be ashamed of themselves.

Hang on a moment, aren't they (highway patrol) just another motorcycle gang sporting their colours, riding in a menacing manner, using intimidation? Yeah, the POLICE gang. Watch out for 'em folks!
As it is, if we where to ride together through QLD all in K100 forum T shirts we could expect to possibly get the same treatment?

If I were a member of any motorcycle club and there are near 400 registered clubs that have motorcycles as the focal point then I would be wearing the club logo, which is what a patch is, on my clothing and until they made a law banning it I would continue to do it and when they did make that law I would move to another state.
The laws that this current government is making are akin to the laws made by the Nazi party and then used to get rid of people they didn't like.

I think this guy said there was nothing on the back of the vest... so not a mainstream big name club.
He is well organised and in control of the situation, experience gained 21 times prior.
No we did'nt see the start, but he's filling up with petrol, how dangerous to the public was he?
The same rhetoric and legislation is coming here SA and VIC too, It will fail for the reasons stated above,
surely?????

What really gets me is that the laws are already there to deal with these gangs of organized crims but its too hard for the cops to work out.

The one thing the rider didn't do is ask if he was free to leave. I don't know about Queensland, but here in the U.S. there are laws about detaining private citizens. Oftentimes people get into trouble because they don't know their rights. Although the person in the video claims to know his rights, he certainly didn't execute them properly and was probably doing it all for show.

Every time a policeman asks you a question and you answer it (if you decide to answer it--it could be a trick question too), always follow it with the counter-question "Am I free to leave now?" You see, people often don't ask to leave and the officer has no responsibility to tell you you are free to go, so that's how one can get caught-up in a continuing questioning/investigation that leads to trouble (particularly if the officer is looking for an excuse to justify the wasted time).

So, be polite. Be cooperative. And, don't forget to ask at the appropriate time if you can go about your business--that's how you get out of trouble.

First off, I do not know about either Australia's, or Queensland's, laws.  We did not see what happened at the start of the video, but what we do know is that the rider displays a type of attitude that will ensure that his 21st stop will not be his last.

The Police may have been in possession of information that the club to which he belongs is involved in ringing bikes, who knows?  His response to questions is deliberately obtuse, and I feel that had he answered the Police questions without evidence of attitude, then after a swift VIN check and a check of his personal details to verify whether he was wanted, he'd have been on his way in no time.  I may be wrong on that though.

Perhaps some of the Aussie K riders would like to tell us how many times they have been treated in this manner by the Police?

Firstly the law and police have little in common in Queensland.

As an example we were on our way to a rally held each year in the same place and as a group were stopped by the cops and each given a speeding ticket when asked why the cops were booking us for 42 in a 35 zone the brazen reply "we book you bastards every year and you know it".
People dont just disappear here but that is about the only difference to the Stazi.
Ans as for how many times I stopped counting years ago.
They are a bunch of self serving egostatistical arseholes. I have seen one weaving in and out heavy traffic with lights ans siren then stop at the pizza shop and come back out with an arm load of pizzas ans no money changed hands.

The QLD police are focussing very much on the 'patch' or 'outlaw' clubs. Hells Angles, Rebells, Komancheros etc.  The club that this guy is involved with(Misfits) are associated with HA, the pres is ex HA and they have affiliated to the outlaw group to the extent that they wear a full back patch and rockers on their back.  Any 'normal' bike rider wearing rockers will generally have action taken against them by the 1% type whether you agree with them setting the rules or not.  The Ulysses club in OZ has sought permission from the patch clubs to wear the full back patch, but members must not wear rockers unless you want be bashed for the priviledge.  I don't wear a patch or a vest, never have, why would I want to anyway?

So though his club is not 'listed' as one of the QLD govt targets, their association with a listed group makes them a target too.  And the police claim that they don't know one rider from another anyway, an excuse to pull any rider over on a whim.

Riding a bike I've been harassed once by police.  It was QLD in 1988, I made the easy mistake of talking to someone riding a chopped Harley in a public place and that made the police give me lots of attention.

Man bashed over leather jacket

No wonder he's been stopped 21 times.

I’ve been following this issue with an increasing degree of interest.  I discovered there is an additional aspect to this beyond what Robin says.

There was recently a court case in Cairns that made me aware that dressing up as a bikie is more hazardous than I realised.  It seems that a member of a "social" motorcycle club who was out on a “peaceful” ride was ordered by bikies to remove his vest.  When he refused, the self-proclaimed one-percenters chased him and beat the crap out of him.

Man bashed over leather jacket

It seems there are two opposing points of view to this issue.  The first is that only genuine MC's who are committed to living the lifestyle are entitled to wear a back patch, with top and bottom rockers.  It is not for weekend warrior wannabees, who like to play dress ups on the weekend.  It has even been likened it to wearing someone else’s military medals and participating in an ANZAC Day march.

The other point of view, is that these self-appointed bikies who enforce self-proclaimed “laws” (to which they have no democratic right), against innocent hard-working individuals, are nothing but thugs and criminals.

Both views are pretty extreme, but when reading about such incidents, it makes it hard to sit on the fence.  You can really only be for the bikies or against them.  There is not a lot of in-between.

Personally, I would never ride in a bikie vest, for two principle reasons:
1.      I don’t believe in pretending to be someone I’m not.
2.      A vest offers no arm and elbow protection in the event of a spill.

I will leave it with you to form your own opinion folks.

But for a definition of what I believe constitutes a real hero, look up the names, Ivan Lyon or Thomas Lanphier Jnr.

They fly like a crow squark like a crow and have black feathers then complain when someone takes a potshot at them.
Most of those wannabees belong to the ulysses club and are a large part of why I resigned my membership 3 years ago.
It got to the stage where I was embarrased to be seen with them and riding with them was a nightmare as most couldn't ride out of site on a moonless night.
They dress like the selfproclamed big bad ass bikies and in my opinion bring it on themselves because it has been widely known what the situation is.
Most of the wannabees if confronted by one of these "bad ass" types would shit in their pants if they were grunted at and run all the way home because they forgot where they left the pushbike.

If you are a Ulysses club member you have my commiserations and the best advice I can give you is to get rid of the idiot president and brainless secretary and the club will turn around.

Umm, I'm not in the Ulysses club, and I'm not sure if I'd want to be.  What with the police on one side, and the bikies on the other, it seems like a bit of a no-win at the moment.

The only club I've been in was the Motorcycle Racing Club of Victoria (MCRCV).  We raced bikes on the weekend, not riding around the streets posing as some sort of Marlon Brando impersonators.

This bloke is not in control by any means, he cant reply to the cops without annoying them, and perhaps thats his plan and that also may be why he has been pulled over 21 times, i'm in the Ulysses club Rick and I have had to move the couch out onto the fence to relieve the pain at waiting for it to turn around and head in the right direction, I live in hope though, the first AGM I attended was Mudgee in 04 I think and after registering that I had arrived and getting my show bag for the event i noticed the tonne of blokes all dressed up as mean nasty bikie types and wondered if I had made a mistake coming here. had a blast as those agm;s are like a bike riders regional show, day after day I seen every type of bike I could buy every type of accessory I could put on one and every type of bit or clothing I could stick on me. That was fantastic, the people were great to yack with and I really did look out of place in Bellstaffs standing there with them. No doubt it has gotten worse, they dont believe they are wannabee's bespite fitting the job description right down to thier johnny Rebs. Any how other vids this bloke has posted all seem to be along the same lines, must be his fav pastime

With the Queensland cops if you bent over backwards and licked their boots they would do you for assulting a most exaulted shoe and kick you in the teeth and then do you for criminal damage for leaving blood on their boots and tell the magistrate that you tried to chew their boots.

I know a few as friends I made in Ulysses and although I say friends I still wouldnt trust them.

The last time I bent over backwards was to empty a largie, (tooheys black) I've been punched in the teeth and kicked in the teeth several times (all mostly involving tooheys black) but I'm over it now, I;ve learnt to behave and sip not guzzle, Wonder what its like to be employed to do what you want to do all along? (coppers hassling bikies I is thinking of) mind you I dont fancy riding one of those new bmw 6's for a living, smooth though they be.

The police here have a very bad culture and the ones that wont fit in dont last very long.
The police force here loose about 60% of the probationary constables before they finish the first 3 years and 40% in the first year while they are still probationary. Many of them go to other states but most just try to forget about it and put it down to experience.
One I know personally left part way through training because of the bullying and bad times he got.
The Fitzgerald inquiry here bought down Joh's government and all the police learnt from that was to hide the coruption better.
I know one guy here that is a member of the Finks and he is a bad bastard he had 4 brothels and he told me quite openly that the same 2 detectives came round each week and collected the $1000 from each brothel and that was apparently just part of the cost.
He is in the slammer now for dealing and importing heroine.
