Yesterday I had to slam the brakes due to a pedestrian darting in front of a truck. No damage other than a racing heart. I noticed that the ABS kicked in but the pulses were much slower than I recall. My recollection is that the last time the ABS was activated (a few years before) the brakes pulsed about 2-3 times per second. Yesterday is was about once every 1 to 1.5 seconds. Thoughts on what might cause this?

Thanks

I would not even hazzard an opinion but the Guru of K bike ABS will be able to answer (most likely) http://bmwk10075abs1fix.web.fc2.com/  If anyone knows Tosi Tabuki will

Before you start delving into the ABS, I would advise going out on the bike and deliberately activating the ABS in a simulated emergency braking exercise.  When it all happens for real, our reactions are so quick that we perceive things as happening in slow motion; that may have given you the impression of the 'slow' pulsing.

I know many years ago I was a passenger in a car that spun on a busy road, and the sensation was one of 'this is all happening so slowly, why isn't our driver doing anything?', when in reality it was all over so quickly.

In the most recent case it was a real emergency and thus perspective might have been skewed. Subsequently I have done a controlled emergency stop test and the brakes pulse very slowly. Not sure if it is the ABS computer or the actual pumps for from and rear brakes.

I should add that there are no ABS faults just a slow pushing of the brakes when the ABS activates.
