Hi all,
I joined this forum after seeing mention of my fathers (formerly Bill Bibers) racing K100 in your thread here; https://www.k100-forum.com/t2271-performance . The bike looks a little different to that now, and hopefully will evolve again - story below.
After a number of years without use (Dad gave up racing in 1993 when I was 5 as the family grew, and hasn't started again) Kasper the K100 is in a little bit of a sorry state. He had a couple of outings in the late 90's, and then I raced him in a one off meeting in 2005, but other than that he has been stored, and not always in the best way.
I have come to an agreement with Dad to get Kasper up and running (he is going to focus on his R90S and I'll look after the K-bikes), and see if we can turn him into a competitive race bike for NZ's Pre '89 Post Classic class. It will be a big ask, the GSXR1100K's, FZR1000's and ZXR750's dominate the class with the odd 888 chucked in, but I think with a bit of effort and commitment we can get him near the front and if so it should be a laugh showing the way on a K-bus.
If you are interested, I will endeavor to keep this forum up to date with changes, mods, photos and results of this project. First on this list is a 5 or 5.5x17 rim to replace the 4.5x18 magnesium PVM which is in a sorry state - this will let us run modern 17" radial slicks as he is already equipped with a 3.5x17 front. I'm intending to collect Kasper from Dad before the end of this year if possible, just have to plan the 1000km round trip. He needs a quick strip and check, and a few seals replaced but after that it will be onto track and see how fast we can make him. I have done quite a bit of racing myself (a few standalone NZ titles, but the one I'm most proud is the 'Cliffhanger hillclimb' title on a ZX10R earlier this year, there is a video on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KubGVzd64rg if you are interested) so while the project is a bit daunting I think we have a shot at the end goal of winning some races.
Anyway, wish me luck and talk to you soon.
