Does anyone have an image or can tell by my pic if the handlebars I have are original for a 88' K75S?  The original owner put all sorts of bar risers on the bike, which I have taken out but the OEM brake line and the steering cover/switch hubcap doesn't really fit.

Tried to load an image, but it is not working so maybe someone has one I could see.  Any tips on loading images? Hosting didn't work nor did entering my flckr url

Hi Bd,

My second 75S came fitted with C bars and the S bars are in a box.  Give me a couple of days and I will get a photo up on the forum for you.

Dave.

The K75S crash-pad/cover should look like this:

It's quite a common mod that owners swap the K75S bars for K75C ones. The latter have a very similar width (just about an inch wider over-all) but are about 3 inches higher.

The simplest way to determine whether yours have been swapped is to feel the point where the bars curve. The 'C' bars are bent:

Whereas the 'S' bars are cut and welded at the bottom (ignore the apparent width here, the grips have been slid to the end prior to removal):

The bars have different crash pads and the brake hose from the master cylinder is longer on the 'C' to accommodate the extra height.

Those pics were perfect and confirmed that I do have the OEM S bars, thank you very much for the information.  I am not sure why the crash pad was cut, I will probably just replace that since the previous owner had cut it down.  Replacing the brake hose was a tight fit, but it works with no leaks so I am assuming it is all good.

The electrical cables on the switch blocks are all the same length so you don't need to do anything there

Thanks for your quick reply Rick. Think I'll get started right away, don't think I could handle the "s" configuration on a trip from Phoenix to LA. As I've gotten to know this bike fairly well, I really didn't want to sell it
Regards, Matt

S cables will work with C bars.  Depending upon the brake line setup you may need to use a different line from the front master.  However, many times, by loosening the banjo bolt under the front master and changing the angle you can use the old one.
