Hi all,

I'm trying to remove the clutch arm pvot pin (number 11 in the image below)



The pin seems to be seized to the pivot arm (pin moves with the arm) and can't shift it despite repeated beatings with a hammer, so before I remove the gear box and get out the really big hammer, blow torch, and dremel anything else worth trying? I've left it to soak with some penetrating oil over night and will have another go tomorrow.

Whenever I've encountered a similar thing I've left it alone, the danger is that you could write off a gearbox case by snapping the lugs.

Thanks for the warning. I'll probably try and demel the ends off and try and drill out the pivot. Or just leave it alone... hmmm.

I had the same problem with a K75. I ended up cutting the shaft (pin) with a 4" angle grinder, sacrificing the clutch arm in the process. A used arm from Motorworks is not that expensive, and certainly better than breaking the lugs off the back of the gearbox.

This is what I ended up doing. Pulled the gearbox, got the good old angle grinder out and had the old rusty thing off in the few minutes. Cleaned up and brand new pivot pin, arm, and gubbins installed and nicely greased, and gearbox ready to be refitted.

Another vote for the angle grinder method - you'll find the shaft has rusted itself solid to the bearings in the clutch lever.  Get a modified clutch lever (or modify one yourself) with a grease nipple, keep it lubed and never have to worry about this happening again.

Hi Hitman, try using freezing spray then heat then spray then heat etc all the time dose it with release fluid. Remember that if soap will melt on  ally its getting close to losing shape. This has worked for me on previous vintage tractor rebuilds. Hope this can help:D
