I'm in touch with Mark Hooton of:
http://www.cymarcbikeparts.co.uk/
The idea is that he is making a prototype radiator guard for use on bikes that have had their fairing removed. This will fit on the radiator using the existing captive threads. At this stage I'm not sure what form the guard will take, whether it will enclose the sides and top fully, partially or not at all.
A donor radiator has kindly been supplied by Comberjohn (sent directly to Mark) and I've been sending him photos of how and where it mounts.
At present I'm not sure what the material will be, stainless or aluminium and we are discussing the holes. My response is that at this stage they will just be simple horizontal slots.
Mark seems to think that replicating the mild steel mesh inserts of the various fairings won't be a problem. These will be in either stainless steel or anodised black aluminium. That's a bit further down the line. I can supply him with the radiator and belly pan meshes from a K75S and the mesh from a K100RS belly pan. I may be asking for donor meshes from other fairings to use as patterns at some stage.
This is a work in progress and any input would be welcomed.
